Re: x6 a joke????

Just for anyone reading this topic and being put off buying an X6 - DON'T get one!!!!!

The X6 is $%1T!. Worst phone I have ever had by Nokia.

I've had loads of Nokia phones, right up till my last one being an N95.  I didn't think for 1 minute that Nokia would move backwards....by a million times.

Millions of minor faults, most of these are usually unable to be cleared up by a trip to this forum.

Locking up up at regular random intervals, Internet slow and unresponsive to touchscreen to the point your finger end is flat after hammering the screen with it. I don't think there was one week when I didn't have to update ovi store s/w in order to use it. You be lucky if 50% of the apps you download actually work properly.

Battery is **bleep**

Case and battery cover is the cheapest plastic scrap I ever seen on a nokia.

I sent the first one back because it was slow and kept freezing for a few seconds, and there was loads of dust building up under the touchscreen. The new one did exactly the same.

No amount of firmware updates are going to sort this handset, so bite the bullet and get an HTC or iphone or something until Nokia get their act together and come up with something capable! Its like trying to run Photoshop on a ZX Spectrum!

Re: x6 a joke????

I have a nokia x6 which connects to my pc by media/mass and image but will not by pc suite, I have tried lots of updates, lots of removing of software, cleaning and replacing of OVI and PC suite. I'm using the usb cable that was supplied, does this indicate a fault on my phone as not working on usb connection pc suite.. or is it the software on my pc although it does pick it up on media transfer/mass storage, it states that Noxia x6 connected in unsupported mode.. or something like that. It is really annoying me know... I have downloaded from nokia site or used cd/dvd supplied..

Does anyone from nokia look at this forum..If so can one of you people in the know explain to me why a phone that is advertised as a media phone has as many software probs??? There is no internet radio player available, real player won't play, the software doesn't sync and numerous other probs. I await your answers as i'm seriously **bleep** off and prob will refuse any nokia phones in the future after 10 years of no probs, then to come across this phone....Is it a joke??

well not funny...And if anyone says reload software firmware it's been done and still no joy!!!

@kellykinger

What is your pc? Windows XP,Vista or Windows 7?

You could try going into device manager on you PC and check under usb controllers.

You should see an item "USB Mass storage Device."  If you see it there then right click on it and then select properties. Does the device status show that it is working correctly or does it show that there is a problem ie: code 47.

I have found that when removing the usb cable from the computer it is best to do so through the 'safely remove hardware' icon in the notification area.

Re: x6 a joke????

I haven't read this whole thread as I haven't the time at the mo. But after my recent experiences I can only conclude that the Nokia X6 is indeed a joke phone designed to rip people off. I was always so happy with nokia phones, especially there ease of use, but I won't be getting another one (well actually I am, but only because my network operator is trying to force me to).

I had one X6 which got a cracked screen (this phone had been fine (other than the rubbish texting bugs, slowness, and lack of responsivity  from touch screen keys) so I was sent a replacement phone under my insurance policy.

The microphone on my replacement phone broke within a matter of weeks so I was sent another replacement phone which was never able to pick up a signal so I was sent a 3rd replacement phone and the software crashed within 24hrs of it being delivered and I haven't been able to switch it on since.

Despite protesting to my network operator that I really don't want one any more they have insisted upon sending me my 4th Nokia X6 replacement phone.

My advice would be - just don't get one!

Re: x6 a joke????

What network are you on? If your phone is network branded then do not blame Nokia. Some networks clog there phones up with their own software and it affects the performance of the phone. And then people blame Nokia rather than the network.

[ Edited ]

Thanks for your help

I tried resetting the phone a few times still no luck after I tried to use it. Took it to Nokia Care who said it was faulty return it to the shop get a new one. They reset it take it to Nokia who send it back saying its working? I complain the shop tries again no luck returned by Nokia care. A ex Nokia staff person in the shop reloads the software and notices the faults so back to Nokia care again with me, after resetting of course it now works again, they will not change it. So knowing the shop were trying there best and as I'm still being reasonable and nice I took a picture of the Nokia care staff with my 5320 as I see them more than my family, who suddenly had a rethink as the people at head office would know who they were? and agreed to change the phone if I delete the photo.

I got a new phone and used it as an alarm clock and 32G MP3/4 player it actually worked, and after a week I have recovered from the experience and am trying a sim card it still works even the satnav works and music refresh does not lock the phone up, and the same battery has lasted longer than one day.If it plays up again I will keep it as an alarm clock as the time spent stuffing around is not worth it.

Re: x6 a joke????

I was going to start such topic but I realized that such topic already exists! :smileytongue: Hmm, Well, I own Nokia X6 16GB. Its touch is great, sound quality is great and camera is great. But, sometimes it hangs for too long. In that case I have to take off the battery and restart it. Its super duper slow, trust me it is. It keeps on showing errors like 'KERN-EXEC 3'. And whenever I go to Installed Applications in Application Manager in Settings, it never opens. What I'm saying is: whenever I tab 'installed apps' it doesnt open, instead I come back to settings page!! Every time. It is so annoying. Sometimes I feel like throwing it away.

The guys above who are saying that this phone is awesome, i agree with you BUT only if you can solve these problems.

Re: x6 a joke????

This phone is neither great nor a catastrophy. It is quite cheap, it can do a lot, has free navigation and so on. But it is slow and it has several bugs (whether they are minor or not is up to each owner to decide). What i am disappointed more is not the phone itself but the reaction (or better, the lack of) of the Nokia support who say that the bug(s) will PROBABLY be fixed but they do not know when. I find this hard to accept since the phone isn't on the market just since yesterday. Some of the bugs (like the DATE INCORRECT bug mine also has, which definitely is NO user caused bug) are known since several months.
