Does anyone from nokia look at this forum..If so can one of you people in the know explain to me why a phone that is advertised as a media phone has as many software probs??? There is no internet radio player available, real player won't play, the software doesn't sync and numerous other probs. I await your answers as i'm seriously **bleep** off and prob will refuse any nokia phones in the future after 10 years of no probs, then to come across this phone....Is it a joke??
well not funny...And if anyone says reload software firmware it's been done and still no joy!!!

Attitude? you don't know the half of it, disgruntled customer more like i'm not a beta tester thats what this software is it's inexcusable to be sold a phone thats not working. Don't you dare question my attitude. In fact if you moderate or have anything to do with this site then I will accept your apology in writing in this thread! Apple seem to be way ahead of the game at the moment at development and distribution shame cause i have always stayed clear of apple.

Jimmy the phone has been reset twice and firmware and software are current. My annoyance is the fact that this seems to be a known software fault. The phone will not connect to the ovi software The whole response of the phone is slow and the occasional lock up. There isn't even a nokia internet radio extension for this model. Not for me I'm afraid, phone is returned first thing in the morn. Again Nokia set out to use the customer as a beta tester.

@spikehammond. I have an X6 16gb which I bought on 1st May 2010. This phone has worked flawlessly since I bought it. As far as I am concerned it is a great phone. If you are having troubles take it back to the shop you bought it from. However, in my experience people who criticise phones do so because they are not using it properly. In other words it is not the phone it is person using it. As for the lack of internet radio. Did you do your research before you bought this phone. If not do not blame Nokia. Next question. What version software do you have on your phone? The latest version is 20.0.005

Hi Spikehammond,
Sorry to hear you have all these problems.
I see that you've already resetted your device and you also mention that you are using latest available software on your device. You could still try reinstalling latest software with NSU but if that does not help either I'd suggest that you let local Nokia Care point to check your device. Like already mentioned here you can check your nearest Care point location by selecting Contact us from the top of this page.
About the OVI software you mentioned, if you mean OVI Store there is new a version of OVI Store application available for X6 which you can update e.g. using OVI Suite. And about Nokia Internet radio application ... that's correct. Currently there is no version available for S60 5th edition devices.

I'm amazed how many people think the X6 is a bad phone. I have been delighted with mine. Maybe I am lucky and got a "good" one?
I have experienced the phone being slow sometimes, and very occasionally it says "memory full". But I use it a lot and often have multiple apps running (something the iphone has only just managed). It also comes with very useful features, not least the huge hard drive and the Ovi Maps - better than my dedicated sat nav.
I've never seen leading-edge technology without some minor flaws. I think the X6 is a great package overall.

I think this phone is a joke as well, as for blaming the user the reason we are on this support is we try to find out what mistake we have made. All we find is more people having the same problems. We are not the type to go running to customer support over 1.5 hours away from were I live because the battery is flat. I have also reset reinstalled the operating system yet still cannot get one of nokias top level phones to play music. The GPS also takes forever to find a signal yet it states in the manual will take a few minutes try 20 mins yes outside no trees before you ask. Skype was supposed to be in the Ovi store but is not there and fring is now no longer supported by Skype. I have installed Nimbuzz but my skype out plan does not work.

Nokia is the Best........ my 5800xm works perfect. i guess Nokia X6 is a greet phone. one of my friends got it. it works perfect. works faster than my phone.

@jamesgbc. I have never had a problem with the gps. Always get a satellite lock in under two minutes. Even the very first time I used maps the satellite lock was under two minutes. I suggest you check your settings. Go to Menu>applications>location>positioning>positioning methods and make sure only Integrated GPS in ticked.
As for your other problems I suggest that you uninstall all programs that you have installed including Nimbuzz. Then on the phone dialler type*#7370#. You will need the security code which is 12345 unless you have changed it. This should take your phone back to the state it was in when you first bought it. Do not install any programs until you have tried out your phone. If the phone then works (Gps, maps, music etc) then try installing one program at a time. If any of the above do not work then take your phone back to the place that you bought it from. From my observations either.(1) The phone is faulty, (2) You have installed a program that is causing a conflict or (3) You are not using it correctly or (4) a combination of any of the above.

Just for anyone reading this topic and being put off buying an X6 - as I nearly was two months ago.
The X6 is brilliant. Best phone I have ever had by a million times. Couple of minor faults, but these are usually cleared up by a trip to this forum.

Re the GPS. Yesterday where I live it was heavily overcast and pouring with rain and still got a satellite lock in under two minutes. Never had a problem with the GPS as far as satellite lock is concerned. Can't say the same for navigation which is quite frankly pathetic. Have just done a 3,000 kilometre round trip and had to rely on my TomTom. If I had relied on Nokia Maps I would have been hopelessly lost. This is one area where Nokia need to lift their game. As a result of this I now no longer use navigation on my phone. It is just not in the same league as the TomTom.

i am inclined to agree that the X6 is a poor choice.
I bought one last week and my list of disappointments grows daily.
I can't read texts or emails sent in other languages, because my phone is only supplied with two languages, due to regionalization. Nokia won't supply any language software support. They told me the only solution is to use a third party solution that will void my warranty.
Really??? Loading third party language software will void a hardware warranty?
that's not good enough.
furthermore, the phone freezes at times, switches off inexplicably and navigating the interface is not very easy.
