I've searched but to no avail, how do I transfer a multimedia attachment (photo) on an SMS inbox message, to my photo album on my phone (X7).

There must be a simple way

It must be an MMS, and not an SMS, as SMS can't handle photos.

 

In any case, open the message, and when you're viewing the message, you should be able to view the photo ("object") and save it to the image gallery. Check the options under the "Options" menu when you're viewing the message/photo in the Messaging app.
