Hi I have just recently upgraded from a samsung SGH G600  fone to a Nokia X3-touch and type all is fine if not a little different from the samsung but  can anyone tell me how I can delete a contact from a group I have set up without deleting the contact from my contacts list, also how to delete a group from my contacts.

to delete a particular member from a group >open group >highlight the contact you want to remove >options >remove from group. This way the contact will be deleted from group only not from phonebook.

To delete a group >group >options >delete >delete group and its members?> yes. This way only the group will be deleted, the contact remains in main phonebook.

when I go to the group in my contacts and highlight the contact i want to delete and then go to options the only choose i have is add detail, ad image, delete contact or add to group - also when i highlight the group all i get is the list of people in that group  with the options to add or back - maybe i set the group up wrong - help please - also how do i put a bar on a number i don't want to answer

Being an S40 phone the Menu options may be different.. so try selecting Delete for a single entry and check if its getting deleted all together or only from the group.. or it is giving you any other option when you select delete..( ..like delete from contacts or from the group..)

Note the no. in case it gets deleted all together.. so that you may re-enter.. and wait for more suggestions..

..and it is not possible to bar a number on S40 phones..

tried that it gets deleted altogether - surely there must be a way to delete an entry from a group, also what is an S40 fone

sorry for the wrong piece of info there. Its applicable in s60 phones.
So there doesn't seem to be a way. Or lets wait for some s40 users for their view.

About s40: symbian operating system have different series phones eg s40, s60(s^1), s^3 etc.
For more info google symbian and you'll definitely get loads of info.

Open the contact you want to remove from the original contacts folder (Not in the Group).. There you will see the details like Tel.No., Group,Ringtone(If assigned).. and so on..Highlight the 'GROUP' here-->Options-->Remove from Group..

not working stll , not got option for group only got mobile number home number, mail address, image no group or reference to it only to add to a group not remove from one.

it appears there is not this function on this fone very poor - not happy but comitted to a 18 months contract now so stuck with it

hello lynnie........even am using the same mobile n faced the same problem n here is the solution........group created will be found in contacts(names) there options>mark>delete selected
and contacts in group can b deleted as follows........open the group then long press on contact u will get the option remove number
