Can I offer a possible explanation ?

 

Could there be one of those "activated" security tabs that you get on CDs and library books etc stuck to the back of the battery or somewhere inside the phone ? They can get pretty small these days.

Do not know if the issue is with X6 only.. but as far as CUG is concerned.. I have this plan from Vodafone on my Nokia 5800xm and my wife the same plan previousely on Nokia N73xm and currently on Nokia X3 and both have never faced any such problem... TILL NOW (!!!)...thankfully..
