USB transfer modes

[ Edited ]

Could any one tell me about the USB transfer modes in X5-01. When I am in PC suite mode, is it safe to copy and paste files to my memory card?. I asked this because one of the songs I copied to my SD card stopped playing at a particular point and then I restarted the phone and now that song is playing completely fine. For some troubleshooting purpose  I formatted my mem card and  *#7370* my phone for a total reset and started copying all the music files again to SD card in PC suite mode. I disconnected phone from PC and opened the gallery. The gallery is now starting for the first time and displayed a message "Repairing corrupt media Library" and it added all the files. Why the media files are corrupted. Is that because I pasted the songs directly to the mem card in PC suite mode other than the Mass Storage mode?. What is the significance of Mass Storage mode.

Re: USB transfer modes

I don't have the X5, but I have never experienced any such due to ps suite mode. What you can try thoug is to use the Mass storage mode as the device will show as flash drives in my computer. Using that mode should also give you easy access to unmount the drives as you unmount a usb stick before pulling it out. This should terminate the chances of corrupting files etc.

Try formatting your memory card first to make sure it's clean and reboot your phone to let it rebuild needed folders. Then connect the phone to computer in mass storage mode. Drag and drop as you like and the unmount the device. Then breath for a couple of seconds and disconnect it from the cable. Do you still get them errors?

Note that formatting your memory card will dele everything on it. Make sure you back up what you don't already have stored on your computer. Pics maybe? :smileyhappy:

Alright, then what is the significance of PC suite mode. Is it meant to be used exclusively with the PC suite software? and not simple drag n' drop file transfer?.

Also I have one more question about the WLAN MAC address. I found an address in the back side of my phone that looks like WLAN MAC address but a different one as I obtained by entering *#62209526#. Is it actually the WLAN MAC address that on the back of the phone?

Re: USB transfer modes

PC Suite mode allows you to see Phone memory as a flash drive. Well at least I can.
