Hi all,

I have the european X6, so it does not natively support the chinese language. However, I read somewhere on this forum that you can install some chinese fonts so at least you can read chinese sms ?

Can someone help point me in the right direction ?

You will have to visit the Nokia Care to get a Chinese Language Pack installed.. but you may have to pay for it and on any Firmware upgrade this will get removed...

In that case the only solution I am aware of is you have to buy a new phone, may be from China that has the language pre-installed...

You can manually install a new font which does have the chinese glyphs along with the English ones. This goes to the memory card so there is little danger of being lost after a firmware update. However this process isnt exactly easy.

this X6 of mine has already taken a lot of my blood and sweat ... so I guess some more won't be that bad !

Uhm....I just realized...you are using X6....XD....I am not sure if it would work because the X6 is using an onboard mass memory which cannot be separated from the phone memory like a memory card can. A problem happens when you install the font while connected in mass storage mode. This is because the phone is using the font files while you are accessing them, so it may cause trouble. In fact, you can't connect to Mass Storage mode anymore after you do this on your X6...So I realized its actually not a very good idea...XD

I just made it work for reading any Chinese character on web only.

I installed this package.

( I write English a little )
I succeeded to install Chinese fonts for Nokia x6-00.
These are two steps.
(1) Install Chinese font
I used Chinese font set are downloaded from Japanese personal web site that below

I choosed M_1P_WenQuanYiZenHei.zip file and extracted.
This file include some files that below

I used "M+1P+WenQuanYiZenHei.ttf".
I made a directory on Nokia x6 that is "E:\resource\Fonts"
It copy font file to "E:\resource\Fonts" and rename 4 times.
M+1P+WenQuanYiZenHei.ttf -> s60snr.ttf
M+1P+WenQuanYiZenHei.ttf -> s60ssb.ttf
M+1P+WenQuanYiZenHei.ttf -> s60tsb.ttf
M+1P+WenQuanYiZenHei.ttf -> S60ZDIGI.ttf
"E:\resource\Fonts" directory include only 4 files.
Do not copy another file.
Restart x6
(2) Install Chinese FEP( Input method software called FEP in Japan.)
We can download and install from Chinese Web site that below
