More free memory with firmware v40 in a X6?

Hello, I have a X6 16 Gb, with the firmware v31.

Recently I'm having a lot of problems with the memory available. With whatsapp installed, I can't hardly use maps, or facebook and so on. The "memory full" message appears always!!

Will it help if I install the firmware v40 for this device?

Thanks.

Re: More free memory with firmware v40 in a X6?

Hi ric_mart,

Have you installed the application on your Phone memory or Mass memory? If you have installed your applications in the Phone memory, could you reinstall these into the Mass memory and see if you still have the same issue.

Regards,

Re: More free memory with firmware v40 in a X6?

I have all the applications installed in the mass memory, except those that are installe in the phone memory by default.
My question is if it's worthy to install the firmware v40 or it will be more memory demanding that my actual firmware (v31)

Re: More free memory with firmware v40 in a X6?

I don't use one of the apps that displays the exact amount of free RAM, but I don't get the feeling that free RAM has got either better or worse since I upgraded my X6 to v40. 'Memory full' messages are just a fact of life on the X6 I'm afraid, if you try to have more than one program running at once.

I didn't think that installing apps into mass storage rather than phone memory had any effect on the amount of RAM they use?

Re: More free memory with firmware v40 in a X6?

The phone is almost unusable after installing the last version of whatsapp (with emoticons). When I have to use the phone as a GPS navigator with Nokia Maps I have to uninstall the whatsapp application before (you cannot close the app without removing it).

I don't know what to do to improve the amount of RAM available.

Thanks

Ricardo

Re: More free memory with firmware v40 in a X6?

After uppgrade to v40 I have more "memory full" issues than before. It looks **bleep** that every app takes 20-30% more RAM than before. I have about 25-30 MB free RAM (using SPB shell) and I can run nokia maps untill i start navigation, than sw crash. Tu run navigation I need to turn off SPB shell. Before I newer had to turn off SPB shell. BTW last version of nokia maps I have at least half year when first appeared on beta labs.

zokonja, have you installed the app whatsapp? It happens to me to be the most RAM demanding app. If I uninstall this app everything go back to work properly.

I got the same problem.  Before v40, I used navigation regulalry and never had memory full errors.  Since I upgraded to v40, navigation often failes saying "memory full".
