i have nokia n78 and just 2 days back i updated its software as was signalled by the nokia pc suite.  everything is fine except that the icon that appears on top of the phone screen to show i have new messages is now permanently "on" and blinking..even if i have zero messages ( i deleted all of them).

how do i get rid of that blinking icon and have it same as before to appaer only when i have new messages?

It blinks because your messages in the sim card is full. Go to messages then options then select sim messages. Delete some messages in the sim card. Your problem will be solved. Pls give me a kudo if you like my post.

 i have deleted ALL sms's ....including the ones in memory card and phone memory also...

the icon is still blinking

and also the speakers volume is reduced!!

Is it text message or company's service message of advertisements pop ups on your screen? Sometimes there is a problem in mobile's service too. If the same message keep blinking on your screen then register your complain to your mobile service provider's customer care center. Call them on their toll free number.

no...its CLEARLY a problem that has occured after i updated the software to v30.014 ...because it started only immediately after updating to v30.014 .

i have 2 noticeable problem

1- the blinking message icon

2 - the reduced speaker noice 

i want to know

1- how do i fix this problem which is clearly due to updating to v30.014

else if no solution is possible then....

2- is there a way to revert my n78 cell phone back to the original backdated software which was working just fine?

Now you have to check your mobile first. Then we decide that it is mobile problem or firmware bug. For that, first backup your contacts, messages, calendar, notes and bookmarks via PC Suite backup utility. Backup images, videos and music files using Windows Explorer. Now format your memory card using mobile's inbuilt memory card format utility. Now switch off your mobile. Now press and hold this 3 button "green call key, * and 3" together and switch on your mobile. Press and hold down that 3 key till country insertion dialogue appear. Now reset all the mobile settings as you like and restore all you backup in your mobile. Now check your problem and its still persist then it is firmware bug. Wait for new firmware release by Nokia for your model.

You say that you checked and deleted messages in the phone's memory and on the memory card, right?

That's not what you were asked to do. You were asked to check that messages on your SIM card had been deleted.

ok, that cool, i deleted the SIM messages and the blinking icon stopped.

now if only someone could help me with the reduced speaker noise after the upgrade!
