hello ...
i want to update my n97 to 2.0 ... but i can't ... i had this problem :

i uninstalled nokia pc suite and nokia software updater many times ... but it still not working !!!

NSU shaws that "configuration error"?????????????

I get crazy could not find any solution the problem is that NSU keep shows "configuration error I have windows 7

on your n97 press *#0000# > options > check for updates

Now see if you can update to v20 that way.

Do the follwing below



FOR WINDOWS XP/VISTA/7



1st: click>START>RUN> type MSCONFIG

2nd: go to STARTUP TAB and click ENABLE ALL then "apply" "ok"

3rd: reboot ur PC



also after PC rebooted, connect first ur phone by using PC SUITE mode, after then wait to phone to be recognize by PC suite (open MY COMPUTER to check it if the phone logo device is there) and also be sure the pc suite is running and everything in task bar with a connection sign glowing GREEN nokia in taskbar



4th: open ut NSU and start the update, your phone should be recognize now, if problem persist uninstall the OVI SUITE and all its components including its folder (so it wont cause conflictions, because i have reason to believe both hidden clients are running

I have exactly the same error, I use Windows 7 too. When I start NSU, after a second or two it turns white, when I click on it, nothing happens, when I move the white screen it suddenly returns to normal, but still with the message "Starting application". After a while (1,2 minutes) it comes with the "Configuration error" message. The Click here for more information leads to nothing usefull. Has anyone an idea?

OMG !!! I have  to same problem too. I'm using a Window 7 and after I googled about this problem, I found an article and it said that NSU is not compatible with Window 7 and suggest me to install NSU on Window Vista.

Nokia should really consider to release NSU that is compatible with Window 7 users since there are more and more Win7 users these days. I guess they won't fix NSU until all Vista users change to Win7.

To all fellas above~~~ I found the solution to upgrade the NSU on our Win7. Just right click on the NSU icon and select "properties". After that change click on "Compatibility" tab and check the  box that said "Run this program in compatibility mode for :" and choose Window Vista or XP. Click ok and there you go!!!~~~  XD

I know it's been a while, but I found another way to solve the annoying "configuration error" and I'd leave it here for someone else. Nokia tells you to turn off the Internet File Sharing in the FAQ of the NSU. Here it didn't work. So I decided if it is a network problem than I'd turn off the ICS. It worked and I didn't have to turn off any of my security software (firewall and antivirus). So.

Start menu > Execute (or use the Search box in the start menu of Windows Vista) > Services > Find ICS in the list of services  > Right mouse > Stop. Now NSU will find the new firmware.

Please turn on the ICS again after you finish the update.

i'm having the same problem, i'm trying to update from 11.0.021 to 20.0.019

the updater recognises my phone and the update required, but during the update my phone resets and the nsu says it has lost connection with my device etc, my phone turns it's self back on after a minute or 2 but the download will not continue.

this is really frustrating because i need to use the satnav but the licence has expired and i can't update to ovi maps 3.03 until i have updated the firmware to at least 20.x.xxx

I am using Windows Xp and have just received a replacement handset for my N97, I now cannot user the Nokia Software Updater as I keep getting an error message saying it needs to shut down.  I have seen loads of people who are running vista being advised to run in compatibility mode with XP, what if you are already running XP and it doesnt work. I now cannot update my phone.  It syncs ok but the updater refuses to work.

Any suggestions please???
