hmmm...it is kinda good news, but personally, I would prefer fewer OS upgrade with a focus on making the existing OS 99% stable before moving on to a new one.
You only need to change to a new OS when technology makes the current OS somewhat obsolete. I still have an N95 which is S60 3rdEd FP1 (ancient compared to the 5th Edition) but It's still going strong.
Nonetheless, who knows what tricks Symbian Foundation has up its sleeve! I'm still waiting for the 'thought activated' Nokia N2000 with USB->WetWire Human Interface (WWHI) for 'in-place' neuro-virtual browsing.
...seriously dude!
..they are developing it...dude?!

Symbian has been already in the past releasing a new OS version once or twice a year for the last 10 years or so.
So this doesn't change much.
Note also that the fact that Symbian Foundation will be releasing new versions of the operating systems, does not mean that device manufacturers will use every version.
It also does not mean that every new version will be made available for old/existing devices in a firmware update.
It also does not mean that users can make their own firmware versions with any Symbian version they'd like to any more than they can now.
