I tried to update the software of my n97 mini but  every time I get this message from my nokia software update

 

"For optimum connectivity, your USB cable should be connected directly to the PC,and not via a USB hub,USB keyboard or laptop docking station"

 

so can anyone advise me what to do ??

Try all the USB ports on your PC/Laptop to see if one will work. In rare circumstances the ports on a PC may not be suitable, especially in budget hardware.

If no ports work you will have to use a different computer for updating, or see if an over-the-air update is available (see user guide for more info).
