Re: how to install on nokian n8

@cressball

Upon N8 product code is "burnt" into the microchip, there is no method for altering it.

If I've helped in any way, a click upon the white star at bottom right of screen would always be appreciated.

However if my answer also solves your problem clickingbelow it will benefit other users!

@cressball,

N8 comes in different colors and each color has a different product code. A different product code is not implying, that the hardware is different. When you use the firmware of an N8 for a different country than yours, you can encounter problems when the communication protocols differ from the protocols in your country. For Anna I used the firmware from a different country than my country, but I was certain that the communication protocols were the same. In general I advise you not to use the firmware package of a product code of an N8 used in a different country. Moreover, installing firmware can only be done by a procedure called flashing and I don't recommend that procedure, unless you have the skill to carry that out and you know what to do when something goes wrong. I cannot be more specific due to guidelines of this forum. You rather wait for the official firmware update. Cheers

Re: how to install on nokian n8

@cressball  As far as I know every firmware package contains a number of languages, which depends on the product code. It is possible to add an extra language and this can only be done by a Nokia Care Point. After an update of the firmware, in your case Anna, Anna will fall back to the original number of languages. You have no choice other than going to a Nokia Care Point again to obtain that extra language. If you have paid for the extra language the first time you can ask for an installation for free. Since Nokia is advertising to keep your Nokia up to date with the most recent updates you have a point you can use to get an installation for free. A different procedure for adding an extra language is not known to me. However, I'm not sure, but I have read something about this. I cannot remember the details and the applicable website. Try your search engine, may be you can find an alternative. Hang in there.
