help me plezz!

hi, i few days back i got this phone. My Problem is that whenever i try to update my phone, i mean the whole process like connecting my phone via pc suite and downloading the latest NSU and stuff like that! i did all the steps but when i double click the NSU(nokia software updater) it starts "searching for connected phone" and it take alot of time and then giving me the msg of "Unable to find phone"
1.For optimum connectivity, your USB cable should be connected drectly to the PC, and not via USB hub, USB keyboard or laptop docking station.
2.If your device has different USB modes, please ensure that you have select the "PC" Suite", "Nokia" or "Default" mode.
I'm not a kid!
i know this things.
i had updated alot of my own nokia cell phones and they're teaching me lessons? lolzz
i am not getting what to do here?

Re: help me plezz!

I think you should first connect through PC suite and click reinstall PC support to phone.

Re: help me plezz!

Do this.. Uninstall Nokia PC Suite and NSU from your PC and restart it. Now download the latest version of Nokia PC Suite and NSU from Nokia website and install it in your PC and restart it again. Now turn off firewall and antivirus software and connect your mobile with PC. Now backup all the data of your mobile using Nokia PC Suite backup utility (for safety, if any problem persist). Now restart your mobile and connect it with your PC using original data cable. Now run NSU and do the procedure as written in NSU. Don't run any application in your PC or mobile. Don't touch your mobile untill "successful update" message appear in NSU. After complete the update process, restore all backup in your mobile and enjoy. Good luck...

Re: help me plezz!

i do believe youre talking about the N97 on v10.

the n97 not connecting to pc suite etc is a known issue and was corrected on v11

which i think youre trying to update to?

heres the trick:

1. power off the n97

2. with the device still turned off connect the usb cable

after a few seconds the device should begin to charge

3. with the usb still connected turn the power on

4. the device should now give the option on the main screen "PC suite Mass Memory......"

5. connect via pc suite then update your device to v11 using nsu to correct the usb connection

issue....

this advice is given under the assumption that the device youre speaking of is the N97.....

Re: help me plezz! urgent

Hey Guys

I am in a soup. I upgraded my E71 software to 1.7.3 and everything was fine however after restart i lost all my contacts and messages(sms) etc except the data like pictures and vids on the memory card.

everything was fine earlier - but the software upgrade did not mention i would need to back up the data or did not ask before it wiped off my contact info clean.

anyone know how to retrieve this lost data..i have almost 2000 contacts info lost

This is really strange. Firmware upgrade procedure via NSU or FOTA don't wipe user data. You have lost all you data so now if you have backup then you can retrieve your data. Without backup, you can't get back your data. There are memory card and SIM card data recovery softwares available on net. You can try that but you can't get back your mobile's C drive data like contacts and messages.

It is not strange. It is true that usually you don´t lose any date when upgrading through FOTA. BUT if you upgrade using NSU you´ll lose your data! You are even told to make a backup of your data before the updating procedure starts!

One thing is true though, the data that was wiped is lost forever if it wasn´t previously backupped. The memory card stays intact if you update your firmware...so does the SIM card... Once again, try to do more accurate research!

By clicking the "Kudos!" or the "Solution?" button on the right you can say "Thank You" and you´ll show the author and others that the post is useful.
