how do i change the firmware in my 6600? and what is the latest version? where i can get it from? someone plz help me to update the firmware.......... thank you......

Either visit a Nokia Service Centre or a Carfone Warehouse for your firmware to be updated.

You can find out if a newer version is available by making a fone call to them or drop in. Please be advised not all Carfone Warehouse shops have repair shops in them.

To find out the current version on your fone type in
*#0000#

You could always check the software update link on this site to see if the new suite has you make of model on it to perform a do it yourself update.

Remember to back up all your downloaded content as the firmware operation will delete this.

Firmware is their to help cure bugs and add enhancements to your fone so ask before they do this what the new firmware will add to your handset. Some times it just makes it run a little faster. Its the old saying, why fix something thats not broken.

But in the end its your choice.

We can also update our firmware by downloading latest one from net( thru PC-Suite).
i just wanted to know how much time does an upgradation of this software on phone takes??
Because phone should not turn off while the upgradation process is going on as this can put cell in inconsistent state, and we ll need to take it to nokia centre..

On my 4mb connection, it took 1-2 minutes to download and install NSU, another to hook my phone up, 1-2 minutes to download the approx 20mb update, and about 5-10 minutes for the software to flash my phone.

Maximum time to take on a broadband (assuming 1mb) connection: 30 minutes.
