any one having error 1721 while installing nokia software
updater!!
even if you install again Microsoft installer v3.1,it will not solve it.it is a corrupt repository.

For Windows XP Service Pack 2

the fix is very simple
Open command window: run
enter the following in the run command window:
rundll32 wbemupgd, UpgradeRepository
install noikia software updater

If you are getting same error after executing "rundll32 wbemupgd, UpgradeRepository" command from command line, remove entries of "Nokia Software Updater" by searching in the registry. To invoke registry you need to execute "regedit" command from Windows Start -> Run.

 

After removing all the entries of "Nokia Software Updater", reboot PC and then install Nokia PC Suite and Nokia Software Updater. 

 

I followed same steps and i am successful in installing latest version i.e.  v1.8.10en.
