I would expect that if you got the phone as you say through a retailer who is selling on Vodafone phones, then Nokia would have sold these phones through a partner channel, which means they make less on them, but hope to sell more of them. They wouldn't want you pretending that the phone came through a different channel ( I don't know why either ... ) so would not want you posting information on how to do it on one of their sites.

This is old news now I'm afraid but yes I did manage to get v3 on my phone and have had no problems with it for a good few months now. The thing is, I can't post any advice about how to do it or links to other websites on this forum as Nokia don't like it! I'm not even sure that this post will pass their censorship process either but if it does I suggest that you go searching for other pages that cover the solution (of which I contributed to along with others so you might want to look for my user-name too). There's enough information out there and it's not that hard to find so good luck. Thread ended IMHO.

Hey all.

I just upgraded my e70's firmware from 1.0610.05.06 to 3.0633.09.04. I was pretty worried after reading this thread, but everything went just fine, no problems whatsoever, and I really notice the improved performance. The phone was freaking annoying to use earlier with all the delays, and now it's, well, somewhat less annoying and some heavy apps seem to run smoother.

I don't know what could be the reason for the update to fail for so many of you, and this can't be the main reason, but anyway, the stupid POP-port breaks connection _really_ easily from the slightest movement, at least in my phone it does. It's ridiculous. So when you upgrade, to make sure it doesn't fail for this reason, put the phone on a hard surface and _don't touch it_ at all. Don't press a single button. Heck, don't even breath on it

keypad light and keypad keys stopped working on my E70, trying to upgrade firmware from current 2.0618.07.10 on a E70-2 phone, no dice.

Nokia software updater can't find any updates on my phone.

really, i'm ready to give up on NOkia, their products has gone nosedive recently, customer services don't exist anymore.
