Will using the software updater void the warranty?

Just out of curiosity, will using the Nokia software updater thingy void the warranty? I mean you could wreck the phone if you didn't follow the instructions or there was a problem. Would Nokia still honour the warranty if there was a problem agter trying to update?
Forgive me if this has already been discussed but I can't find that information on the search.
Is that an N95 in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?!?

Life's too important to take seriously.
Nokias I've owned 3210, 3310, 6100, 7650, 6600, 6680, 6630, N80, N95

I guess it will not void the warranty, unless the warranty is expired.

Here is the answer from the FAQ for NSU.

23. My phone "died" during an update, who pays for the repair costs?
If the phone is within its warranty period, Nokia will repair the phone under the usual warranty terms and conditions.

If the phone is not within its warranty period, Nokia is not liable for any loss as defined within the End-User Software Agreement.

Re: Will using the software updater void the warranty?

the thing is this... you have a perfectly functional phone with expired warranty, and you decide to update with the latest FW because the phone has some bugs.

you try to update using NSU but your phone dies even though you did nothing wrong. The NSU is the official Nokia Updater.

Who is to blame ?
Previous phones: 3330, 3410, 3510i, 3200, 6230, Nokia N70, Nokia N73, Nokia N82, Nokia 5500 Sport & Nokia N97

Current: Nokia N900

Nokia wont repair it for free with expired warranty, even it's not your mistake :smileysad:
