To attempt to answer some of the questions asked in this thread
Will I get my PR2.0 (Anna) update before Judgment Day?
The end of the world, much like its beginning, depends very much on the religious faith and/or scientific theory to which you subscribe, but I do not know of any religious or scientific belief that is predicting the end of the world before the launch of Anna - even the guy whose recent second attempt at getting it wrong made the world news.
I don't understand your excuses for not releasing the update immediately. You have already released the update with the T-Mobile version of the C7.
This is not actually true, the Nokia Astound does not yet have Anna. The initial release of the T-Mobile variant software on this device does contain some features of Anna, most visibly the portrait QWERTY keypad; but it is still not the full Anna release.
My phone has PR 1.2. Why is my phone showing that new device software is available if it isn't available?
The software updates section of Ovi Suite will find updates for some Nokia applications as well as the main firmware. The SW Update app in your Symbian^3 device is also finding updates for some apps.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering about that.
No, I don't want to go back to the original Hong Kong firmware, because doing so would cripple my phone by disabling the FM transmitter. That was one of the reasons I r**ted my phone.
Well that's why you are getting the update notification. PR 1.2 has been now released for your product code and since you did not upgrade the proper way the Nokia server thinks you are still on the old firmware. If you wish, you can reinstall now the firmware corresponding to your product code. If not, you'll just have to ignore it for another couple of months until Anna is released.

The software variant used in the Astound was developed after PR1.2 was already available for other C7-00 variants and Symbian Anna development already underway, so most likely it was a straightforward process to build the new keypad option in during the initial development of the Astound software from Day One.
If Nokia's software teams had taken time-out to prepare separate interim update packages to introduce individual features like the QWERTY keypad for large numbers of existing variants around the world, this would have risked further delaying the full Anna release and the other benefits that it will bring, so I would imagine that doing everything at once with the Anna release would have been considered a more pragmatic approach.
I can not give an estimated date for the start of the Anna roll-out because it is Nokia's policy not to make software launch dates public in advance.

Good job they didn't do anything else in that time to delay the release of Anna...

You should remind Jo Harlow about that next time she makes a presentation to a worldwide audience. It would definitely make your lives easier.
