Dear Nokia,
Could I please get my PR2.0 (Anna) update for my Nokia C7 before Judgment Day, which will be on May 21, 2011?
Or at least before the End of the World, which will be on October 21, 2011?
I don't understand your excuses for not releasing the update immediately. You have already released the update with the T-Mobile version of the C7. Come on, why is it so difficult to release the same firmware, minus T-mobile branding, for all C7's???
Sincerely,
Kevin

Hi all,
hopefully with everything that Nokia is taking out the new update (Symbian Anna), then it is not **bleep**. I hope to improve my Nokia N8 and I do not regret having spent so much money on this phone.
With everything that's happening in the company, I'm wondering if my next phone will be Nokia or iPhone. Of course, if high-end Nokia will have Windows Phone, I will pass on iPhone or any phone with Android.
A greeting.

Dear people
Please stop complaining as they are not going to listen. They only make fake promises so that people will buy their products. For now i say those who bought symbian phones(including me) are stuck with it. The promised updates are going to be late(or not gonna get them)
Nokia senior manager Gunther Kottzieper, who gave a presentation at the 2010 Internation Mobile Internet Conference in Beijing once said: "Nokia Symbian 2011 focus areas" indicated that a Q1 Symbian update will include over 50 features, including a more intuitive browser, while second- and third-quarter updates will add "a new look and feel for the user interface, a more flexible home screen, an updatable HTML5 browser and an easier software update experience."
So where the heck is our updates? Well..... nowhere! But still they wont stop making promises..
Why dont they understand? We want more deeds than talking.
Or did u just make this thread to spread the stupid news about the judgement day?

It was delivered.... just not to all phones .... right?
Guys try to keep a bit of perspective
I like to come here as I often get useful updates or ideas but lately I am starting to dislike it
(love my phone) N8
Android has released new versions 6 months ago and 75% of the existing owners never got it.
Iphone3 with version 4.x (one that wasnt **bleep**.. and motivated by a court case) over a year...
These are not quick for any phone manufacturer... nokia seem to take 2 months from initial release to all handsets(not including operator locked phones).
So how are they so bad compared to the industry standard experience?
If you cannot come to terms with this
Then get a Belief phone and believe everything is OK when it is not.

Have to agree with Watsamatteryou regarding Android.
Google released version 2.3 ( Gingerbread ) on the 6th December 2010. Then Samsung decided to release it as an update for the Galaxy S at the end of April, but it got pulled off the servers by Google on the same day.
If you have a read of some of the reactions from Galaxy S owners on some of the Forums, the general attitude is " never mind, it will be available soon enough ".
There don't seem to be many tantrums being thrown by Galaxy S owners over the issue.
I understand this isn't the first time it's happened either.
Nokia users on the other hand seem to get more updates, more often than Android users.
So, relax and just wait for the 3 months or so for Anna to start rolling out.
All the best.

But during six months Samsung released two versions of Android for a Galaxy S. Q4 - Froyo 2.2, Q2 Gingerbread.
What Nokia? Q3, Q4 - Q1, Q2 - NOTHING. More updates than Android - joke

Nokia N8 in six months has had P R 1.1, P R 1.2, Apps update 1.0, Phone apps update and Videos update.
Samsung Galaxy S since it's release in June 2010 has had one major firmware update from 2.1 to 2.2, and a further minor update to 2.2.1.
Gingerbread doesn't count because it has been withdrawn, so the only people running Gingerbread are those who were lucky enough to have upgraded on the day it was actually available and other people who have flashed their phones with the leaked versions of Gingerbread.
All the best.

To further the Android comparison, my friend got his update from 2.0 to 2.1 almost a year after it got released (this is an HTC phone). Nokia users don't really realize that grass aint really greener on the other side with regards to updates. It's just the same if not worse.

The support is better from Android compared to this Symbian 3 by NOKIA!

I don't think you are here for improving/ helping anybody; just to throw **bleep** on other brands and there is Nokia; how satisfactory for you.
If you mean or know that Android is better; good for you; don't trouble to explain...............

Well, now is the morning of 5/22 (day after "Judgment Day", which didn't come), and my Nokia C7 software updater is showing new "C7-00 Device Software" available!
When I tap on it, it says "update using your PC". But my Ovi Suite is not finding any new software to update. ![]()
My phone has PR 1.2. Why is my phone showing that new device software is available if it isn't available? Could this mean that our **bleep** had an effect after all and Anna is just around the corner?

How did you get your PR 1.2 ?
24-May-2011 10:36 PM
I had to r**t my phone to get PR1.2. I'm happy that I did. Everything went smoothly after I figured out how to do it. For more more information, see my previous post here:

Well that's why you are getting the update notification. PR 1.2 has been now released for your product code and since you did not upgrade the proper way the Nokia server thinks you are still on the old firmware. If you wish, you can reinstall now the firmware corresponding to your product code. If not, you'll just have to ignore it for another couple of months until Anna is released.
