I just recently bought this phone and the other day I have checked if there are any new firmware updates and at the moment my phone is at v11.049 and that peticular update was available since 25 Sep 2008.
I have just heard about the new update v20.175 and various websites that claim that the firmware is available via OTA (over the air) and the Nokia Software Updater...
Since I can't access OTA (if someone knows that would be nice... I don't know if it's a provider problem... It asks me for some Server Profile and I don't know where to find the info... I'm with T-Mobile UK)
Anyway... since i can't use OTA, I have to use the Nokia Software Updater, but it keeps on telling me that my software is "up to date" at v11.049! and as far as I'm aware it has been available for a while now, but for some reason I can't seem to be able to detect any new firmware!!! it let alone download it!
Has anyone got this update? is it US only? please help!!!

The update has been rolled out by Nokia, but if you have a carrier customised handset, the firmware needs to be approved by the carrier before that product code can be updated to the latest firmware.
I'm not saying it's right that it be carrier dependant, but since each carrier customises the firmware, that is why they need their approval prior to rollout.
If you have a generic phone, most likely you would already have access to the firmware update.
Hope this helps.

.. ok... now im really **bleep** off!
I just phones up T-Mobile and they said that they approve the new firmware, quote "as soon as the manafacture releases its firmware to the given phone!" And since you said that it's been already out... I STILL CANT FIND IT!
is it me... or am I the only one that is not allowed to download this new update!
I even re-installed the software on my PC, I re-installed the firmware on my phone... and yet, I still cant find the update...
Can anyone please help! im going to contact Nokia about this!

Whatever T-Mobile said to you, they're the ones holding it up. Nokia creates the firmware update, then T-Mo has to approve it and add their customisations to it before it's released. As soon as it gets back to Nokia, it goes up on the server and it's good to go.
It's not true that T-Mobile approve firmware as soon as it's released. They took more than six months to approve their version of the most recent N95 8GB firmware, which ceased to be the "most recent" almost immediately.
