One of my biggest problems with my N97 was the relatively frequent (although random) "hangs" when ending a call.
That was with V11 and V12.
Well within minutes of the V20 becoming available, I upgraded and prayed that V20 would be the magic solution to all the N97 problems.
Well, just 1 day later, I tried to end an incoming call and the phone just locked up. In fact it seemed to be stuck at the "Swipe to answer" prompt, although I had successfully answered the incoming call. But the phone wouldn't let me end the call after I'd say "bye" to the caller. I couldn't even hold the power button down to restart, I had to pull the sodding battery out. I don't think the pathetic little clips on the battery cover are going to take much more of this regular "remedy".
Also, minor I know, but the sodding pile of carp still doesn't give me a "landscape" keypad when unlocking the phone when the keyboard is slid out, why does it think I want to use the portrait keypad?
Finally, I was browsing these very forums on the N97 yesterday and the phone froze like I'd never seen before. The screen became wildly corrupted (lines and pixels all over the place), then a single horizontal line and then it reset itself, taking a couple of minutes to take me to the stoooooopid portrait unlock screen. Never had that happen like that before.
I'm selling my N97 to Mazuma Mobile, £235 cash. I've lost a shed load of cash with this pile of doodoo on an 18 month contract, but I'd rather set fire to my left leg than use this pathetic excuse for a phone.
I guess I can understand why Nokia pulled the new update. This phone will NEVER live up to their own hyped-up adverts and videos.
grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I had exactly the same problem, Isn't it so ironic? A mobile phone that cannot do even the basics - like deal with phone calls?
Never mind GPS, multi mega pixels camera lens being scratched - it can't even deal with a phone call!! Madness.
My NSU crashed while downloading V20, and now when I try, I find V20 has been pulled for my product code. You think you've lost money? I spent over £500 on this pathetic joke of so called technology.THe phone is garbage, the company is incompetent, NSU is rubbish. I did a hard re-set on the phone yesterday, and when it switched on, I just looked at it, and thought, I just can't be bothered using you - you're garbage.
I will never buy another Nokia again, and will certainly make sure EVERYONE I talk to, knows why. Well done Nokia, spectacularly and consistently delivered garbage in this phone, its inability to update, and the total mind blowing incapacity to deal with the most simple of things - a phone call. It's what you used to be good at. Not any more.

I have had the same problem since V14. At the beginning, I thought it is a problem caused by the network operator. But when I moved from Libya to North America and downloaded its firmware V20, I realized that this problem is still there and caused by the stupid hardware design of the device.
That is not all, I hate that day when I bought my piece of junk for too much money. I found that its built-in GPS doesn't show any satellite lock, thus it is useless. The latest version V20.0.027 doesn't allow you to change network priorities, and doesn't allow you to see satellite reception strength.
For me, I'd rather cut my hand than buying any of Nokia products in future.
