Does anyone know if there is a release schedule like there was for Symbian^3 1.2 with expected release times for different product codes. I am still waiting for it for my N8 phone with 3. The product code is 059CP67.
I need Symbian Anna or Belle now!!!!

Hi
Nokia is working closely with local operators to ensure Symbian Anna is ready for consumers. Each of the Australian operators will have different launch schedules but we aim to have the software widely available by the end of September 2011. Some Australian operators may launch sooner.

Thanks for the updated information about the Symbian Anna release for Australia. I have to say that the news is disappointing though.
Can you explain why working with Australian service providers is different to working with service providers in other countries? What has created the delay?
I considered the end of August to be the deadline (which Nokia had set itself) by which time the Symbian Anna rollout would be complete.
We would really appreciate a method that would allow us to update our devices independently of the carriers' schedule. It's bad enough having to wait longer than other users but when the firmware deployment is delayed because the carriers want to add their own content which is often of dubious value it becomes really frustrating.
At the end of the day we own our Nokia devices. I strongly urge Nokia to consider providing its customers with a mechanism by which we can load a generic version of the firmware image onto our phones.

Whilst we may all own our nokia phones, you still have to be hooked up (via SIm card) to one of the Australian carriers. Many of the changes the carriers may make are just to make sure it works with the appropraite networks out here.
Some of it will be as simple as making sure our emergency numbers work on the phone. eg we use 112 and 000 out here whereas other countries use something different. And these numbers have to work where there is a sim in the phone or not., and whether there is credit available or not.
Whilst I agree that the carriers may choose to add some other junk like branding for instance, which we dont need, more of it will be making sure that things work correctly no matter which carrier you use or change to in the future.
These are all firmware based things, unlike what some people seem to believe on this forum. Whilst the hardware will generally be the same, the firmware that goes on the phone is different from one country to the next. Hence why Nokia has product codes on phones.
Also doing regional style updates, Australia 1 week, UK another week etc. helps to relieve the load placed on the servers, Imagine what would happen if you had 100 million people all trying to get the update in one go. No amount of servers in the world would ever cope. And then of course we would all blame Nokia for incomplete, corrupted, or lack of speed or a similar type of download issue.
Its been this long now, it wont be much longer. And besides the extra time gives nokia the chance to change or alter the download process so that we dont get some of the issue we saw when it was released overseas.
I persoanlly would like the download today, but I know the longer Nokia takes, the better off we should be, when we finally do get our turn.
So hang in there, it wont be much longer for us.

Here the world is on the verge of converting N8 on Symbian Belle and we 3 Mobile Users are still struggling for Anna Update.
This is highly disappointing.

A good part of the world is still waiting for anna as well. We are not the only ones. And belle has only been suggested for Q4 sometime. To be getting 2 upgrades like this withing 6 months (giving a little leeway), is pretty awesome. many other companies do 1 update every 12 months or so. So we are actually quite lucky Be excited for it, but also pleas be a little patient for it.

Nice to hear someone giving some positive input into the Anna update situation. Am sick of reading the neagative posts as in its pre Anna update form the Nokia N8 as a piece of hardware is great and more than adequate and compared with phones of a couple of years back even in its PR1.2 version the Symbain OS performs OK. I love my phone. Anna will be welcome but I am not desperate for it.
Like your common sense commentary.

@J_Lo_ Based on your earlier messages we should be getting the Anna update within the next few days. I'm sure there are many users in Australia waiting eagerly for this upgrade (myself included).
Could I suggest that if you're not going to be able to release before the end of the month, letting us know sooner is going to be a lot less painful, than letting us know later (or worse still, missing date altogether and not telling us).

J_Lo_,
How can you come in here and not say a word about what the heck is going on with the USA release of Anna?
what the hell is going on here?

Jake20 I would suggest that you ask Nokia US, to find out what is going on. J_Lo is from Australia. Try clicking on the name of the Nokia staff member that will tell you where they are from. Then you will know who to direct your questions to, so that you get the most appropriate answer

have you read any of posts from the USA, that just received Anna. To quote an old saying "be careful what you ask for, you might not get what you expect". The release that J-Lo talking about is not to us directly, but release to the carriers for testing. Telstra expect to get a hold of Anna at the end of the month and then test it and have it released in November.

Anybody reading this thread
Telstra state that PR 2.1 will be submitted by Nokia (Accenture) by the end of this month. Has this occurred and should we expect testing to be occurring now?

For those who might not have heard Vodafone have verified they Nokia are rolling out Anna for Australia Monday October 31st in the afternoon.
Hopefully the servers don't crash!
