full charged c7 with anna, went out for two to three hours, all lights on,
then just had ONE bar left at home. That is something - but not great.
yeah,
would be a good idea to have a Charger with 150m cable,
just to be mobile with the mobile.
If the cable also do network we get better download rates
but we are no more wireless
- wired to nokia, sounds like the doomed sentence for symbian^3 users.
to be honest, has some child played around with battery life code ?
This is a nono,
keep your fingers off a function which is for users important
- ask ur daddy to change it!
Understand the phone start to get smart
when users are able to work more then a day with all lights on
- not when carry a a fifty pound battery pack with them.
OKEY?

same problem here, 2-3 days before updating, after updating to charge it out at 6-8h and without any use at all

Hi DonofWorld,
I'll try it.
Do u know if NOKIA is delivering a energy saving mode for NFC or a better battery?
In my Opinion it is nearly senseless
when I have to switch on and off all functions
which will make the smartfone smart i.e.
The Battery has to last with all lights on and with good use (not just drag around)
at least 17 hours, if presumed everyone is going to sleep 7 hours a day.
Think on party people like the models in commercials for smartfones,
48 hours with continuely heavy use should be necessary.
If the battery lasts four weeks and three days only if
I have it switched off and start it just for half an hour,
all lights out only in gsm mode - this might be the wrong criterias.

Dear Nokia Team,
I feel your Team seriously need to look into this battery problems in Nokia C7 after update of OS to Anna .
The battery life has become miserably worst after the update to Anna OS and it wont even last for 6 hours !!
I had upgraded the OS on my Nokia C7 via Wifi and that dint happen smoothly so I had to reinstall the Anna OS by broadband and through OVI suite from my computer,
The Multitasking has become a major problem after the update. It doesn't let two applications run smooth. The phone automatically switches itself off when I try to use more than two Chat applications (say fring and Nimbuzz) .
I request the Nokia team to kindly look into the above mentioned issues and get them fixed ASAP as the Anna OS update not helping the Nokia C7 users At all and its just deteriorating the battery life .
Hoping for a positive feedback from the Nokia Support team .
Thanks,
Vamshi.

All of this is normal, the new symbian phones don't have very good battery life, specifically the C7 and N8.
Get used to it.

Glad, I was not the only one..until the Anna update, my n8 was perfect(except for potrait keyb, of course.)…
I had sudden freeze, phone getting hot and battery getting low very fast, soft reboots…went through the forums and :
1. did a hard reset 7370 and re-installed through ota, no joy.same problem,
2. did a factory reset and re-installed through ovi suite..no joy…
3. Took it to NCC, they said it was a s/w prob and they reset it and installed Anna..they said that they have been getting N8s and C7s for this problem..
After this I have had 2 freezes but battery seems fine..
I sort of am able to see a pattern in the freezes when it happens..I have not set up any mailboxes, but Active sync keeps waking up frequently..(I noticed the log which was not there before Anna in mfe folder in C:..)
When I look at the log entries..many of the freezes and reboots coincide during these moments…the first entry is on the 18th..on the day I got Anna update…
I am not sure if this is the cause or why mfe activesync needs to wakeup when mail is not configured at all..I use mobile documents which serves me very well..
Ah Anna! I go through joy and pain at the same time :-)) you are driving me nuts and simply trashin my N8..

I am having exactly the same problems with the C7 after installing Symbian Anna. I have attempted to re-install the OS, but no longer get the option to select to not install NFC, which I feel certain is the issue here as this was the major upgrade with this release.
For your info, NFC is something I will never use and have it switched off in the settings.
Before I installed the Anna update I was getting up to 3 days of battery life with light usage. Now with the same usage, and settings with NFC switched off, I am getting less than a day. I guess I am going to have to do what the iPhone and other Android users do and charge it periodically during the day - WHICH IS NOT ALWAYS CONVENIENT!! I guess I will have to carry my old Nokia 6233 as a backup just in case the phone dies.
As a long standing Nokia user, if this issue is not fixed soon you will lose me for ever. I switched to the C7 after a bad experience with an HTC Desire, but at least that phone lasted the day!!
This is not what I expect from Nokia!!
PLEASE GET THIS FIXED IMMEDIATELY!!

When i asked about energy consumption of NFC i got the answer
nearly nothing.
when I charged my c7 three hours finished at 2 PM and eventually used it for some calls shorter than minute, have Wlan on, NFC on, Bluetooth on, check email every half hour on five accounts from 6 thru 23 o clock, surfed a bit and checked ovi store fo new apps - in th enext morning at 6 AM ( after 16 Hours ) the phone was black - battery complete empty.
this is really bad.
my phone is a c7 with anna on it.
the most energy consuming app is ssoui - the absolute senseless logon routine, which NEVER can connect and ALWAYS makes problems.
Please release the free apps from the senseless login, this would save energy.

NOKIA
Please help me..My battery in N8 lasted for 3 to 4 days before my last week upgrade to ANNA. Now it lasting only for 4 to 5 hours...After the upgrade also phone is restarting and getting error unexpected error phone cannot restart.
If I would have seen this thread earlier I wouldnt have upgraded to ANNA. Can someone tells me is there a way to revert back my firmware to older version. I think I have backed up my phone 50 days back.

Further to my post above, I put my C7 into Powersave mode, and the power consumption is much improved. However, in Powersave mode you can't use 3G (which defeats the point of having a smart phone with internet access), variable brightness on the display, and you have to manually put widgets into online mode. I.e. all the really usefull features are switched off.
It looks like the power management settings have got messed up on the C7 and N8 on installing the ANNA update, but putting it into Powersave mode appears to override this. I guess this is a workaround, but not satisfactory.
I repeat my plea to Nokia - GET THIS FIXED NOW with an update to ANNA!!
I hope the Belle release fixes this problem going forward.

Hi everybody,
I've encountered that power consumption problem after installing Anna as well. Under the former FW 014.002 my N8 had a very long lasting battery life. It is known that wireless facilities, working with a transmitter, will take a lot of energy. At home I use two connections, GSM/GPRS (simcard) and WLAN. Outside I switch the WLAN off. Further I use the powersave mode in order to spare the battery. That last option was not needed under the old FW. Obviously there is power management problem in the Anna sw. It is not easy to de-activate apps, which are running on the background and therefore we are not aware of this hidden activities. For instance, de-activate your prescription with OVI store, because not doing so, every time you start up your phone, your phone will try to connect to OVI and this takes energy. May be, there is an application on the market to manage applications easily, however this is also a move to spare battery life, that was not needed with the old FW. I hope Belle will do the work.

Hi guys, as you i had the same battery problem on my n8 with symbian anna, the battery life was very short and i had to recharge the phone twice in one day,but i solve the problem doing a hard reset (*#7370#) now the battery is as good as the previous firmware, the only problem i have is that the ovi store doesn't work i don't know why, but i prefer to sacrifice the ovi store than the battery because i used the wifi and the bluetooth a lot... i hope this info helps you.

I did the hard reset(*#7370#) now, but firmware Symbian Anna has not been changed to previous firmware. I am restoring the data, need to check the battery life..Hope it solves my problem..

First of all, Anna update is cool. the features are good, and nokia is progressing and competing with other players on the market.
On the downside, it took 2 days for me to realise that battery gets drained rapidly, infact completly in 16 hrs,(without touching the phone from the moment of recharge). this is infact bad to the repetetion of smartphone usage.
Also Nokia is campaigning for green, eco-friendly usage of its mobile. but i can really say that, people using nokia phones with anna update are not doing their bit to the environment, courtsey mainly to the ANNA update which is eating away the battery, and users who have no option to charge it 2 twice a day.
forget users, atleast solve this issue for the ENVIRONMENT SAKE. faster you solve, the more the power you can save. Consider it in that way.

I noticed my battery will not last for more than a day. It all started about 10 days back. Everything was OK before. I could eaisly get 2 days of battery life on Symbian Anna on my N8. The only change I did was upgrading the to latest version of WhatsApp (2.6.37) about 10-15 days back. Now I downgraded to 2.6.34 and testing it right now.. seems like the battery is holding charge.. will keep you guys updated...
