Ok, To start off with, And to also deter any unnecessary responses from rude self righteous forum members, I'll explain what i have done so far regarding the topic title.

I have an unbranded, Sim free, Contract free, Factory unlocked (No ebay **bleep**) etc etc, Black UK Nokia E6 with a 059H6F1 product code, Type: RM-609, Software version: 021.014, And have had it for exactly 2 months.

I have checked almost the entire Nokia forum for any info, Links or other such pointers to updates for said phone, With no luck at all.

I have also check almost daily via Menu/Settings/Phone/Phone management/Device updates/Options/Check for updates, And have always got the response "No updates available".

I have also posted my phones info in Skyee's (Yvonne's) thread "No updates available, Post your info", And got the response from her that she is not monitoring E6 updates, And suggested i should check via OTA.

I have also installed and checked via Nokia Software Updater (NSU), And have had similar luck, ie. None.

Baring in mind that there has been/is a lot of talk on these forums of around 3 new updates that have been available since the release of the E6, Anna 1/2 and 2/2 and the latest update that was to start rolling out at the end of august.

Could someone in the know shed some light on what exactly is going on ?. What are these supposed updates that i am NOT receiving. What do i have to do to get these updates (baring in mind my phone is no locked to any carrier/provider/dictator), Do i have to go down the dubious path of changing my phones code to receive updates ?, Have i paid nearly £300 for an outdated phone that has only been released within the last few months ?.

Please, Some one tell me what gives ?.

The new firmware is not yet available for your product code. You just to need to wait for it. I have no idea when it will be rolled out for the UK but it should be days/weeks rather than months.

Thanks for responding to my post 93tid . An answers was all i needed, And it's great to know that the UK E6 owners will eventually be offered the updates, As i had this fear that maybe we wouldn't, As there is NO information whatsoever, Or other UK E6 owners here on these forums asking the same questions as me.

Oh 93tid, Any idea about the 1/2 and 2/2 Anna updates that everyone else seems to be getting ?.

I'm going to try really hard not to sound self righteous, or preaching...

To suggest that your phone is outdated because it hasn't received an update in the first couple of months of your ownership sounds a little ambitious. Don't some people use other-branded phones for a year or more without updates (and are satisfied with their lot in life)?

I guess the first question would be the firmware version of your phone. Then the knowledgeable users on this forum could check whether you already have the latest version. Then, knowing that Nokia are busily creating updates, I guess you'll have to happily use your phone the way it is, until some day in the upredictable future it will pop up a message and tell you that there's an update.

The Anna 1/2 and 2/2 update packages you are referring to are not really additional updates. They are updates to the originally delivered applications that sit over the OS, that were updated as part of the Anna update. Does that make sense? So, you would update to Anna, and then the phone recognised that the version of Quickoffice that was installed on your phone also needed updating (Quickoffice is in the 2/2 package).

PS The unbranded bit doesn't really make any difference in the grand scheme of things. The UK operators still have to approve any updates prior to Nokia releasing the update to us mere mortals.

This goes out to all of you with the vanilla E6 handset 059H6F1. 

- White Van Man, I have followed your posts with interest, as I have shared your frustrations about the lack of firmware updates for our phone.

FWIW, I wanted to let you know that I "flashed" my phone to Symbian Belle (111.130.0625) last night and am delighted with the new software.  I have to warn anyone doing this that it is extremely risky, all data should be backed up, and that you risk disabling your phone completely ("bricking").  You also will VOID your warranty, so bear that in mind as well.

I did it because I was so fed up with feeling left behind from our worldwide neighbours and was reassured by the YouTube tutorial by AleksiusXIII.

The only files showing for the UK on Navplus are Vodafone, which I installed fine.

The only issue is that I am with O2 and the Vodafone logo appears on startup and closedown (!).

- I am very happy to pay this price though, just to have Belle up and running.

I am *not* recommending that you do the same, only to let you know that this option is available if (as I was) you felt almost like buying a new phone instead.  I no longer feel that urge, the new OS is great.
