Just upgraded last night to v20.02.27 ( from v12) , as it's only now available for my Product Code ( 0576500 ) , been waiting around two weeks for this.
Noticed though that the battery life is very poor now, it's now on its second charge for today, haven't really done much to warranty such a quick battery drain. Basically, from a full charge, it's lasting four or five hours - couple of phone calls, couple of texts, a few mins surfing.
Anyone any info on this issue?

This seems to be sorted now, the trick is to let the phone battery die right down, so the phone goes off, then to cahrge up overnight -a big long charge.
I did this last night, and the N97 has been showing full battery strength all - although I've hardly used it.

Completely discharging a lithium battery is not considered best practice. While they don't suffer the 'memory loss' issue that older Nimh batteries do, they have a limited number of recharge lifecycles. Each time you discharge the battery fully and do a full recharge, you lose a 'life' and eventually the battery will fail.
Keeping the battery 'topped up' by running a daily recharge and not allowing the battery to discharge will keep a Lithium battery in better condition and help it last longer.
A reason for the quick run-down of your battery may be down to a problem in the v20.x firmware. If you use the handset a lot in landscape mode with the keybaord closed, you may notice if you peek carefully, the keyboard backlight is active. It doesn't seem to happen in portrait mode, so the battery is being sucked dry quicker as a result.
Hopefully this problem will be fixed in the next firmware release.

Hmmm, thanks for the info matt, didn't realise that regarding Lithium batteries.
THe quick run down on day one of v20 does seem to have cleared up now though, the phone has been running since yesterday on the same battery charge. I'm currently running Joikuspot which does tend to drain the battery quickly, but certainly the whole battery problem seems better.
