Firstly, I totally agree with the petition requests.
Secondly, I'd like to say couple of things.
Seems to me that Nokia doesn't want us to know what's in each firmware release because they probably have contracts with their dealers in every country whereby dealers can charge installing firmware and repairing screwed-up phones. If that is so (and I'm not sure it is), it's only natural that they're keeping this information about firmwares to themselves. They're only protecting their interests. However, it's also totally crazy for Nokia to offer us Software Updates online if they're denying us information about what exactly we're getting with each firmware. But maybe that's also linked with my previous presumption about contracts with local dealers...
Just my 2c.

P.S. I bought my Nokia N73 because I wanted some kind of successor to Nokia 3660. I thought that I'd be able to browse my Japanese-English dictionary (if nothing else). I was sooo wrong. I'd only like to know why shouldn't we (as customers) be able to choose language packs? I need it for educational purposes, not to resell the phone to the Japanese! I'm pretty sure that Nokia could release language packs if they only wanted to do so. But no, it's easier to keep us in the dark. I shelled out my hard earned money for the phone and I got what? Balkans language pack?! I don't need it AT ALL. Not only that. Does Nokia offer ANY mobile phone in my region that supports Japanese script display? Don't think so. Please prove me wrong.
