Why oh why don't I just junk my n95 and go to Apple where software just works?
I have had to unistall Ovi because the Outlook sync doesn't work. It was fine withPC Suite.
So, I thought ok I'll wait till Ovi gets better..
Then I thought I'll update maps, over to maps central and a new Ovi maps is required..
So.. First it crashed whilst downloading map upgrades, and now I get:
"Cannot update licenses - Missing phone info: IMSI or IMEI cannot be obtained (20)"
Ok, so my previously working Nokia maps is now trashed..
Do I ever bother to try anything else Nokia comes up with? Anyone dare answer that at Nokia?
Thanks Google Maps, worked first time, a better product, and wonderfully I can walk away from Nokia Ovi software insanity (and I thought Microsoft was bad..).

I have been trying for days just to get the new free maps working..
New firmware updates and then restore from backup - nothing works..
Super slow browser...
No support responses on issues months old..
**bleep** Nokia... you really are handing the mobile market over to iPhone..
I dont get it.. if I ran Nokia things would be a lot better..
Nokia Out.. iPhone in... pity I just spend a fortune on sim free..

You guys DO know that you're talking about a device released 4 years ago, right? You had plenty of time getting informed what you're getting into, by buying that phone, there are tons of reviews all over the internet, the ranting and complaining over features that weren't even announced to exist on that phone are pretty much dumb and useless, ovi maps states big and clear that for the moment only a handful of phones are supported by the new version, you just need to patient, that's all.
Instead of saying "i'm tired of this bug i encounter, i'm gonna switch to iphone" you could just say "help, i'm encountering a bug, what can i do?", because nobody really cares if you switch to iphone, htc, motorola and so on, but we could try and help you if you would ask for it. The members on this forum are mostly only customers, not Nokia employees, so this type of threats have no effect on us.
If you ran Nokia then it would probably be a perfect copy of Apple. But then again, if you ran Nokia, i pretty doubt that you would enter this forum, reading about people who are complaining but don't really ask for help.
So, to put it in short:
1. If ovi has an incompatibility with outlook, it may be because of outlook too, it's not ovi's fault everytime. Try ranting microsoft on this, too.
2. Search features ftw! /discussions/board/message?board.id=navigation&mes

Yeah i second zomgdude, the n95 is years old and the whole point of technology is it progresses. How can they improve the phones if they have to still cater to old phones? it would hold them back and if you bought a new one that was the same as the old one you'd be the first to complain. The new Ovi/Ovi Maps is primarily designed at their current phones, 5800, 5300, n97 etc.
I think if you ran Nokia it'd go under, because clearly you don't understand how much is involved in not only having countless existing phones, but keeping them up-to-date, fixing bugs, releasing firmware and designing new phones that are ahead of the competition. If you want to know how hard this job is, look at all the other companies like LG, Samsung and Ericsson who can't manage it. It never ceases to amaze me how the consumer thinks they have a right to everything - if you want a 4 year old phone, be prepared to have a 4 year old phone. You can't expect nokia to pamper you with the latest technological offerings and then complain that they're not releasing good phones.
Rant over.
