OVI Maps update

Today i noticed that an update was available for OVI Maps on my 5800 v51 using the software update tool on device.

After quite sometime waiting for it to install (really... It took way too much time) i can say that it is now amazingly snappy for the areas i usually try on it.

Anyone found any issue? (crazy install time aside)

try the following;

1. reformat the phone memory

Soft reset (reformat). Type *#7370# and the phone's lock code (Nokia default lock code is 12345). Soft reset wipes the C drive.

2. reinstall the latest Ovi maps for your phone through Nokia Maps Updater (on your pc)

hope it works.

Re: OVI Maps update

@reinob, indeed... i'm quite happy with it.

I would just want warn people about the long install/update time, and wondering if anyone has met any issue (like graphical glitches, crashes, etc)...

yes i just though that with that long install/update time the Ovi maps app is not successfully installed on the phone... but it may be because you updated the maps through mobile.

Re: OVI Maps update

My thoughts go towards to that as well... Since I don't quite know how update on applications are installed.... (if it's like OVI PC Suite app installer then there is no difference between installing via mobile or via PC - ovi sends the installer for mobile phone to run)

Well... Since download took quite some time (even if my internet is not fast, I would say it took more time than it should) the installed files would be quite big thus taking quite some time to 'digest' on the phone...

Well... Looks/feels faster .... But not like going from a Matiz to a Ferrari ...
