Updated the Free Maps and it has helped me find out that GPS sensor in N97 is not very good. It looses signal at roundabouts and critical turns thus making it unusable...Will need a hardware fix as i think.
After reading horror stories about lens scratches and even after seldom/carefully using, i found a scratch today on the camera lens....
I also found that N97's bluetooth is draining battery like hell when compared to other phones even if i use the same headset (I have cheked all settings and everything is fine.)... Anyone else facing this issue?..
I hope i will need to visit a Nokia Care Point to get things fixed.. Can anyone tell me how long will they hold the mobile phone for fixing the GPS and Camera?

I had the same problem. i have NAM RM507. Nokia sent the phone back and forth via 2nd day air. They replaced my unit rather than fixing the issue. All in all... I sent my phone in on a wednesday and got it back the following tuesday.
If you have 3rd party software that require the same IMEI as your original phone.... you might have some problems if they send you a replacement with a different IMEI
Also, my replacement phone was shipped with the FW12.0 and can not be updated to FW2.0. Nokia claims the FW2.0 is too buggy and unstable that they had to pull the FW for RM507... so now I am stuck with FW12.0 until 2.1 comes out...

Thanks for the update ... Reading through various places i found that RM 507 is a North American version with WCDMA 850 instead of 900 and no HSDPA, GPRS.... Dont know whether this is correct but it is good if you can check and confirm. I live in UK, so i should have RM 505.. I assume you are from teh UK too..
Anyway i will wait for the V2.1 and then decide whether to ditch this all together or continue.. Also the change in IMEI worries me, but i think i can talk to the software providers and get replacement software for the new IMEI.
Struck with V12.0.. Nokia should be joking.. It was living with hell before V2.0 for me....

Yes RM507 is the north american verison with the 850 band instead of the 900. RM507 does have HSPDA, although our lousy provider rarely can provide fast download/upload times....
Yeah definitely check up with the third party software company with the IMEI. I know Joikuspot is willing to assist me with the issue. I file numerous compliants with Nokia USA and they have failed to respond back to me. The downloaded software from the OVI store will have no problems. good luck.
yes FW 12.0 is hell... I'm glad 2.1 is coming out monday.

Normally I never go for contracts as it is a hassle, but did it this time after having used Nokia phones before and reading N97 specs.. What a mistake it was...... It is a long contract of 24 months, 1200 minutes & unlimited texts... (£40 per month after paying downpayment of £200) ...It is just 6 months now and i have been hating this mobile phone since day 1... May be this will go in fleebay (at least for the cost of downpayment i guess...) if V2.1 is not upto scratch... I will get some other sim free phone that works fine(never a Finnish phone again...). The worst thing that annoys me is 1000 touches just to do some basic things...
Most of my softwares are from Epocware who i think would help... Anyway before going to the Nokia Care Point i will have a chat with them.
xbungle has risen from the dead and asked us to pratically ditch N97 and get a better phone by listing the v2.1 changes... Read the changes for yourself here

Hi there,
I wonder when actually the v2.1 be available for my phone, till now even the v2.0 is not yet available, still running with v12 (Product ID 0586199).
Anyway, assuming that it still be available soon for my phone too (!), the top in the list what I want to see are:
1. Easy contact search, using normal 0-9 touch keypad, with smart search looking for [abc] when for '2' key and so on.
2. One key predefined timed profile change/toggle. e.g. a press on the key/icon, will change the to timed silence profile for 45 minutes.
3. C: Free up for speedy running applications
4. touch-gravity-scrolling .. opps you all already have this in V2.0
Thank you.

I love how nokia support tells me i can remove vlingo, joiku and all that the they give me instructions to go into application manager. these "support" guys have no clue.

IMHO the only fix nokia can do is to RECALL the n97 and possibly redevelop it with more RAM better CPU and give us the faithful customer the option to take the NEW n97 or give us an N900 or our money back. some of us though are on contracts.
