Please help me....

I have downloaded latest Nokia software updater to update my 6270's firmware from v3.65 to v3.85. I have installed all the drivers etc. When I launch the software updater while the phone is connected using USB cable, the updater throws a message saying "The Phone model is not currently supported".

Please suggest a way/workaround to upgrade my phone firmware. I have not been able to upgrade the phone despite the fact that the phone can be upgraded using Nokia Software Updater.

Till now I have had a very bad experience with the phone and the customer support, but I would still like to avoid using any harsh words if Nokia people could help me update my phone successfully.

Hi,
Possibly you have operator varaiant phone and possibly this phone has no sw update available.

Thanks Maay ( if I spelt that correctly ),

My 6270 is not an operator variant phone. I have bought phone and cellular service independently. I had replaced sim from old phone to new one when I upgraded my handset to 6270. Basically my phone was not locked by operator.

Did I get the correct meaning of "operator variant phone"? if not then please let me know about the details about what an operator variant phone is?
And if my phone is not an operator variant phone then why does the software updater fail to recognize this?

Hi,

If it is not operator dependant phone, i suggest you uninstall the Sw update sw and install again.
I belive you have the latest PC suite sw installed on to the PC, right?

Me too have the same problem with 6270. Its bought without any operator locks, and i can see in nokia site that there is a latest version of firmware available. but the NSU says phone can not be supported or so...i have n73 as well and i managed the same setup of pc/NSU to update its firmware. but it didn't work for 6270.

Yup... I have the latest software updates and softwares installed on my pc, with properly updated Win XP sp2 machine.

Could please suggest something which I could try? I have tried to uninstall and installed each and every software but have obtained no fruitful result.

I have tried again with new Software updater 1.3.4 but this one also fails to identify the phone model and say your phone model is not supported? Whats the solution to upgrade the phone firmware? Could you please tell me what is the oldest version of firmware that can be upgraded?

You should first uninstall every nokia software like driver or PC Suite from your computer and then install Nokia Software Updater and when you do this you can update your phone . and all the drivers that need for your work will install automatically with the "Nokia Software Updater" .
