nokia n97-1 RM505 current version 21.0.102, product code 0576128 PAC EMERGING ASIA Black.
Still no update through software updater
but through *#0000# an update is shown
after downloading phone restarts to update and the switches on with a message saying phone not updated, package not compatible with phone. Contact your service provider.

Yes, the same problem as above. I can't believe it why nokia makes firmware updated so difficult and complicated.
The different codes for different countries and zones? What a stupid idea! Why cannot they just make an identical phone with different language packs? My god...

v22 have brought nothing but headache. just after the update it worked well and browsing was quick, but now it hangs everyday either after a call or while opening a message, the screen becomes non-responsive, music player crashes and random error messages i never got on v21. i was relunctant to update and now i realise i shouldn't have. i am so close to throwing away this expensive paper weight. nokia said v30 is coming after summer, it better come very good with at least 95% bugs gone. i still can't believe that after a year this phone doesn't feel like one.

@coopere: do you performed a hard reset before and after the update, and when restoring do not restore configurations nor files since this can cause the problem since the configurations and files are from the previous firmware.
i think i will reinstall the firmware without making any backup. then reinstall apps to see how it goes. i love this phone and have high hopes that v30 update will restore nokia's credibility and name.

Hi
When we get FW v30? Who known?
31-Jul-2010 12:59 AM
This firmware is rubbish!!
-Contacts kinetic scrolling lags!
-Fring do not work anymore
-My music player playlist section can not be opened
-I can't use my application manager in settings
-I have less that 10mb free on C:memory
-To get my hands free work (nokia W-something) I need to reboot my phone twice almost every time
-I lost 3G after update pretty often
-battery life is very poor now
-music player is overal very slow!
-menus are VERY slow
-I freaking hate my phone! Why I am owning Nokia N97 if I could have an iPhone or HTC?
Tell me bros what to do?

I trusted (still do, just not on the Symbian devices) Nokia for a long while, unfortunately, this v.22 update is irritating. Crashes, restarts, you name it. I will try the hard reset. Now i have to re-download all i had on the phone. Great work, Nokia.. After an update, reinstall everything because you need to hard reset your device.. imagine that on Windows..
After the hard reset, I'm so giving away my N97.. better change to a better OS.. like Android. Never tried it, but so willing to. Just like back in 2003 with the first Symbian phones. I'm so done with Symbian OLD OS. Give it up.
You can still use your N97 as an MP3 player or as a GPS.. but it's not reliable and not worth to keep, because tomorrow it'll be worth nothing.
Bye Nokia, you dissapointed me with your N97 product. So old, so unreliable. Hope your future phones won't be such dissapointing. I liked my N95 even more than this.. thing.

@erik7
I had the same problem but realised it doesn't happen if I face the phone screen away from my body when it's in my pocket. Try it and see how it goes.

Well, i have complained a lot about previous firmware releases, and i had the n97 forgotten in a drawer. I was using the solid n95 instead, due to n97's constant freezes, unstability, bad/random kinetic scrolling, etc...
But miracles happens, and after a hard reset, formating phone's hard drive, an update to firm v22, and again hard reset and formatting...IT WORKS!! That's the only thing i was asking for, a USEFUL phone! And i've been using it since firmware was out, and no problems at all!!After almost a year of the purchase, finally now i can use the phone, (and i even enjoy it!).
I would say "thank you, nokia", but it's been a 10 months wait!!
I hope that what i did to make the phone works may help somebody.

I finally give up and trade in N97 for a Galaxy S, after using the phone for a year. Nokia is doing a 'great' job by moving all it's applications to phone memory which makes the phone even more 'stable'.... ![]()
What I really want to say is they should have put more phone memory on this phone and install firmware V50.x.xxx before releasing it to the market. I don't want to be beta tester anymore....
This is my the first post on Nokia forum and also the last one!

Good for you man...how much did you sell the n97 for??
07-Aug-2010 11:38 PM
I try to guess: 250€

LOL,that's just some geeks blog, got nothing to do with Nokia at all. They "know" that v30 is coming but the v22 update caught them completely by surprise.
