Reply to my battery enhancement Posting:
My N86 with V20 runs now since 12 days without Charging or connection via USB to PC (no charging with USB). With old FW the Standby-Time was 9 Days. Both timespans (V10 vs. V20) with same conditions. ( 10min Talktime 5 Pictures with 8MP)
Actually still one bar in the battery indicator display...
It´s a great improvement!

Well im not happy, having spent a couple of weeks looking for a phone to upgrade I choose the N86 as have owned nokias before and was fed up with sony and samsung. The N97 swayed me a little but the n86s better spec camera won me over.
Updated software instantly and realised this isnt the phone its made out to be.The slight update to camera wasnt really worth the bother. The ovi store app has froze ie no response when clicked.Phone has had to be rebooted several times to wake it up! The accelomerator stays in landscape instead of flipping to potrait but the most worrying was after restarting phone all captured and transferred photos in pictures had vanished.Took several attempts of switching on/off before they appeared in"all" but in captured it says 0 items??
The N97 seems to be getting all publicity and I fear the 86 is going to be quickly forgotten.
Anyone else noticed that on various areas of nokia the n86 isnt even listed in drop down boxes where you select your product. I cant register mine in my nokia as its not regonising handset?? Have emailed support and of course it didnt appear in the product list but of course the n97 and 97 mini is.

Yes, maybe selling the N86 was not that bad idea ;-)
v20.115 is my third firmware. I really do not see any improvements..
The most annoying problem is replying and sending SMS I really slow. This I use every day.
Other problems / disappointments.
- If phone is running out of power shutting itself down. Then when charging it again and after turning it on, there is lots of odd behaviours. First is messaging telling "Unable to access selected memory. Messages will be stored to phone memory." and I have to use Settings > Other > Memory in use > and select E:Mass memory. Sensors, like opening keypad or media controls does not work. And your Wallpaper is gone.
- Browser. I find the browser less capable compared to previous ones like the one you find in N95. You can't paste in web-forms like I used to do to lock up phone numbers. You can't change connection.
- Sound quality. Especially using loudspeakers.
- Photos. Yes, I'm missing photos in the "Captured" category as other users have reported.
- Using "Share online" function. Why can't you configure yourself other destinations?
- I lost the nice "Music" folder icon after upgrading to v20.115. No way to get it back...

n86 is going to be forgotton by Nokia just like N93/N93i. I've learned my lesson buying expensive devices from Nokia it not really worth it, as the support is bad and firwamre updates are rubbish and phone is like a BETA device. Buying a non expensive device you get better device with not too many bugs and support of firmware is really good just takes 1-2 new firmware updates and phone is working like it advertised.
For example:
Expensive Device
look at N97 the way Nokia advertised it, the N97 never performed like that but after serveral months they released v20 (v2.0) firmware which fixed many issues and device seems to be performing like advertised
Non Expensive Device
Look at the 5530 XpressMusic, the way Nokia advertised that the 5530 XM performs exactly like that and whats even great is the firmware support. The second firmware update (v11.0.054) made this device perfect and runs/performs better than the expensive Nokia devices which still are on there 3/4+ firmware update.
I too have sold my N86 8MP and all I can say is I aint going to support Nokia in buying expensive device and showing my loyalty as I get (and rest of the n86 customers get treated like **bleep**) were we dont get any good support regarding the device but what we get is the riddicolous buggy firmware which to me looks as if the firmware team were taking something while making the update (maybe drugs). Think they got way over their head.

Still here shayesta, mo_shef, and now shay14 i see. As always, it has been explained to you several times the constraints that Nokia engineers are under, and that they are doing a fantastically great job considering the circumstances. When will you learn to offer constructive feedback and help users on these forums, instead of ranting on and on, and getting banned and registering under new ID's? Give up the pretense, noone cares that you're on these boards, or for your website either (which still continues to post illegal files).
Oh and Amanda_Stacy, CyrusGrissom, Epstein, prettybianca, Mhelrosy, odi_et_amo14, spidey0722, Undress_You69, nofatchikz, nofatchix.
If you found this or someone's comments helpful or like what that person has to say, please give some Kudos to their post!

The only problem i have encountered as such with the update its in relation to videos, i had over 3gig of music videos on my phone but after the update it wont play the audio and video at the same time!
I only get the sound and an error message.
Anything i film on the phone with the camera works fine, thumbnails fine and displays fine.
This is a bit odd and havent found a work around yet? But if i drag and drop the videointo a folder on the memory card without converting it it will play sound and video np but wont show thumbnail!
Only problem with this is some of the files are big so with out converting them they swallow a lot of space up.
The c: memory is still an issue after the update even with the phone stripped down and everything unistalled and moved to another drive i cant get past 47mb of memory free.

After updating on 20.115 i have a problem with my BT headset Jabra jx10 ser2.
After 1- 2 minutes of conversation, connection with headset is lost, the sound at conversation is not present either in phone, or in headset. To correct it it is only possible switching off and then switching on phone. Switching off headset, BT on phone, or hard reset didnt fix the problem!
Any ideas??? Wait for new firmware version?

I have many problems with my new N86 8MP ( last version 20.115):
1. Voice dialling-Voice tag: I have more than 600 names in the contact list, and if I am using Italian phone language many of them have “no voice tag saved” : if I choose “voice tag details” it says “no voice tag saved for this contact”. It works fine only using English language of the phone, but then you have to pronounce every italian name in English to make a call... I made a test, I tried to delete some names, and I find out that the problem is only when there are more than 200-250 contacts.
2. It is not possible to copy and paste when you are on the internet, which is very inconvenient! The hash-key # in the internet browser corresponds to the zoom so it is not working as copy and paste function, and in ‘options’ there is no copy–paste.
3. In the three lists “Missed calls”, “ Received calls” and “Dialled numbers” the icon which appear closest to the name is always the mobile-phone icon, even when the number is memorized between contacts such as “office” or “home” number , and that is very inconvenient with the missed calls as you see the name but you do not know from which number they called (for eg if you want to call but not with the mobile but from a land line). That problem is very common in many recent phones (N82,N97,N79,5800).
4. It's impossible to edit an e-mail when is already in the outgoing folder. I try to put the phone in"flymode" but the answer when I want open the e mail is always "impossible when message in transmission"...
