If it's not on the web site it could be that either it was only released for your product code via FOTA (over the air, i.e. updating on the phone), or they've pulled it for some reason.
Though I got a text message telling me about the new update.
Note there is a difference between updating on your phone and on PC/Ovi Suite. The former may just do the core software to keep the download size down. I generally do updates via Ovi Suite.
Oh and always do a full backup first using the backup option in Ovi Suite (or Content Copier in PC Suite), then update. If things are bad, do a hard reset on the phone. If you want to restore the backup, don't restore settings and applications as this may load incompatible settings. Just install apps and configure settings manually.

They may or may not read them as employees have access, but this is a user community support forum for us to help each other out mainly.
If you want real support you need to contact Nokia Care (see the Contact Us button at the top of this page).

I believe they must either have pulled it and I was one of the unlucky first adopters that trashed his phone with Beta-grade software...
-OR-
The Nokia Software Updater (Windows XP) downloaded and installed a version that was not yet released for my phone's product code...I have no way to check the first supposition - I was unaware of the site that let you type in a product code to see what the latest available software was at the time I told the updater to go for it - it reported that 051.018 was available for my phone.
I did both a card and a cable backup (as is my routine) prior to the firmware upgrade. I -always- perform a hard reset before doing the firmware upgrade. I've only done 2 on -this- Nokia while having done 3 on my E63, all without incident until my Call Log quit working post 051.018.
Thanks for the guidance - now that I have OviSuite I'll use it solely for software updates - however, I prefer to keep my friend's and customer's information out of the "cloud" and stored only on my desktop as much as possible so I'll continue to use PCSuite for everything else.
Let me know if you find any more info on the Call Log problem and I'll continue to post my experiences with it.

It has been released in India now - I updated yesterday
20-Sep-2010 05:00 AM
One issue that i noticed (India : Airtel : E72-1) after this firwmare update that I did yesterday:
I get no message alert tone or a vibration when I receive a SMS (text message) - verified the Profile settings. Even when and tried changing the message alert tone to something else - at that time, the preview that it gives is perfect (both sound n vibration). But when a message actually comes, neither of them work.
Anyone facing this? Any workround?

Guyz,
I did a hard-reset on my phone (using the *#7370# option) and everything came back to normal.
BUT... as soon as i restored the backup that I had taken (before the reset) of my contacts and messages, the problem came back - no message tone or vibration !!!
then what i did is this :
After this, the phone is working fine now. With all proper tones & vibrations for SMS.
Also, one more thing I noticed with the hard reset, is that:

THANK YOU NOSERATI!!! ![]()
It took some reading, experimenting and head-scratching, but I got it finally!
The firmware update from that far-away place brought back my call log and I learned a very valuable "trick" as well.
Again THANK YOU!
I'll try to post the "glitches" noted with this update as I see them - so far all I've seen is the installation of "PTT" which turns out to be "Push to Talk" - a feature not offered on my network / service plan.

Glad it helped ![]()
It's a shame v051 is still not officially available for our model (p/c 0591928).
