Looks like the E72's gotten a firmware update too :

Again, nothing noticably different, but it looks like it contains a couple bug fixes here and there, along with a couple speed tweaks.

Thanks to this update I can finally pair my Parrot with my hated Nokia E72. No more bugs fixed in my opinion, unfortunately.
I have been a loyal customer for Nokia for nearly 10 years, but after replacing E71 by E72 I am going to say them f..k you!

Dogbert1, I agree that in many important areas the E72 is a downgrade to the E71.
Comparing accessories like the charger and USB cable in my region it is almost a joke. I went back to the shop and replaced them with E71 equvilents. The E72 charger is almost big as a vacuum cleaner, totally akward to put in your bag. The USB cable is mearly a short stump. But the E72 supports USB charging and has a 3.5mm jack. If only Nokia would release headsets that can be plugged in without the awful 2.5" converter though. ![]()
Bluetooth works better with E72 and my car compared to E71/E51. And to be honest the last firmware update for E71 (03 something) made my device very unstable. I tried with Nokia Care centres to back down, without success.
Unfortunately my E72 device have not recieved an updated firmware yet but rest assured I will be 1:st out of the block to try it when it arrives in arabia. When I read about the space bar problem I almost thought it was a joke, but no, I have to restart daily to avoid the problem.
Can we petition Nokia to put the E72 in a E71 shell?
Release a qwerty phone without working space bar? The optical track pad also is a joke and the camera refuses to focus/lighting on close objects, I sometimes have to use the front camera to get readable close ups.
I recently aquired a SE C902 for my wife and for a moment almost considered switching to a regular SE phone instead, but their newer models are expensive and buggy too. I wonder if the C901/902 are the only decent SE phones out there.
Regards,
Fredrik

Can someone explain please, what was this update all about?? Apart from the fact that my E72 became much more slower, I didn't notice any difference!
Dear Nokia developers, there were so many real bugs/problems with this phone to fix, what about those? E-mail client still doesn't work properly, space bar hangs as usual needing a restart, bluetooth works wherever it wants. Camera with 5MP is worse than 3.2MP on E71.. and so on and so on...
Do you guys not understand that with this you ruin your clients loyalty? I'm so thinking about moving to blackberry instead!

Fredrik, my experience with last firmware upgrade for E71 is a bit different. In my case it fixed all bugs I had in my beloved E71. I must confess that I am addicted to gadgets
and decided to give E71 as a gift to my wife (clever, right
) and buy, spending quite significant amount, a very new E72 for myself. I have been promised (as we all) by Nokia and its marketing team that I will get really good and reliable set. Now I wish I stay with my previous phone and spend money rather for a fly ticket to some nice place.
Cheers
Robert

Does anyone have problem with handling files bigger than 7 MB, after upgrading to 22.007? It means for example, that the media player does not play music or the ovi updater which is 7.5 MB cannot be download, email box if it reaches the 7 MB limit can't download new messages etc.
Anyway I tried to downgrade with some magic keys also, but all of them kept the newer firmware version. How can I try if it were the problem (i.e. the upgrade)?
Before the upgrade it worked fine .

ok guys,
we now all have the griefs about a few things.
1) build quality... thta's something that probabl should go in a separate thread.
2) every version, with a list of old bugs/new bugs with eventual fixes in it's own thread
(like it is now and hopefully stays).
3) is there a way to sign-up for testing before release? (nokia: just holler, it's part of my job to test.. roeland@linux-it.nl
you are welcome)
4) ....
I also have an E71 and I exacly have the same problems as mentioned. However, it's now all said, let's try to make things better. Let's see what bugs are still there. Let's see which got fixed. Let's see what new bugs.
Let's try to get the E72 do it's job on par with the E71.Think of it, there are positive things about the E72; USB charging, the std 3.5mm connector. Hardware speed, more memory. And yes, most of us are disappointed. Again, let's try to work on it and get the stuff better!
Roeland
ps ayne can contact me via the address you see in here as well.

I store mp3's that are mixes. Thise are well beyond 7MBytes and work flawless.

Tried to update the firmware on my E72 from ver. 21.024 to 22.007
Use an E72 - US version product code; 0591928. Updater does not allow me to update, Nokia site informs me 21.024 is the latest Fware version for devices with product code 0591928.
Anybody aware of issues with the updater or work around to get the firmware updated on my phone?
Overall phone works well, biggest issue I have is Bluetooth connectivity problems. BT headset (Plantronics Voyager-pro) not useable. Everytime after approx 5-min, loose connection and have to reset phone to restore connection.
Suspect firmware issue.
Thx

be aware of the fact that the new f/w isn't for all E72's at the same time. It's being distributed in a specific way (don't know exactly how) that may cause the availability of the f/w in the Netherlands but nit in belgium for some time. may be days, weeks, or whatever.
In your case, your product code probably hasn't got the update pushed.
regarding bluetooth...... I'll test tomorrow in my car.
