Hello, i have a black nokia 6500 sllide on the 3g network. i previously had a nokia 6500 slide in silver on which i had updated the software to v10.0
However on this device i can only seem to update to v8.30 and not any higher.
this phone is a RM-240
what is the difference between these RM numbers from phones to phones? and which RM- is best/newest on the nokia 6500 slide?! ? ! ?
Thanks

RM-240 is a phones model number (6500s is it's name) and the same model number would be on a sim free or network provided version of the same phone in the same country.
Some regions do have different RM numbers for what appears to be the same phone, usually China and North America. This is because those models operate on different frequencies.
What differentiates variants of phones that share the same RM number is the product code which is a seven digit number on the label under the batter that starts 05.
The product code is what the nokia software updater looks at when it checks to see if an update is available for your variant. Quite often network branded variants are very slow to get updates, this is because the network has to approve an update before nokia is allowed to release it for that variant.
If it's the 3 network in the UK you may never see the update as they are one of the worst networks in the world for not bothering to approve updates. All you can do is nag 3 to release the update but their customer support is next to useless and they are likely to wrongly blame nokia.
