I've checked everything:
- made a photo using 6233 and sent it to myself via MMS - WORKS
- calculator - under "Organizer" (same as before) - WORKS
- e-mail client - WORKS

From my perspective - nothing bad happened really (and I hope some errors are fixed).

Re: Nokia 6233 V 05.10 is out

Hi, Now with the new software installed, when I went the goto menu the voice mailbox icon appears in the last position, when you remove it (as i don't see the point in having it as key 1 is default for voice mailbox and can't be changed) saved the changes it all looks fine until you lock the key pad, when you unlock the key pad go back into the goto menu voice mailbox icon has appeared back by magic. First I thought I had not saved the changes, but I had, I contacted T-mobile they said not our problem contact Nokia, contacted nokia (guess what) they said not our problem contact T-mobile. just wondering how many times i will have to go round in circles for one of then to help me.

Hello,

Topic: Screen does not sleep or power save when in Flight/Offline Mode

I think that this is by design and not a bug. From what I observed, when my 6233 loses signal (either on GSM or UMTS) the screen does not go to sleep mode / power save mode. The backlight just turns off, but you still see the main screen. I observe this frequently when I am in an area where GSM/UMTS signals are poor or next to nil. I think that this is a good feature, since if the screen goes to sleep, then how would you know if the phone is actually on the network (i.e. has active signal)? You wouldn't unless you turn on the screen!

In addition, it is also under these conditions that I sometimes get the "Sim Card registration failed!" message on my 6233, since, I guess, the phone is unable to register the SIM properly due to bad or erratic signal reception.

Thus, when you switch to Flight mode or remove the SIM you are actually turning off the signal/radio transceiver (?) or putting the phone in Offline mode, and thus you get the no-sleep screen "problem".

For your info, my firmware version is 5.10.

Hope this helps. =)

Doesn't make any sense what you wrote. You think it's a good feature that you still see the (dimmed) background screen when your phone loses reception so you know somethings wrong. Well if you put your phone in flight mode, you DON'T WANT any reception! So why this feature?

I partly agree with you that it might be handy when you're in a normal mode, but in flight mode it's totally unnescesary and battery consuming and btw, in normal mode a simple warning that you've lost reception on the top left/right will also do and is also less battery consuming. I'm not a engineer so correct me if i'm wrong but those extra lines of code you need for that, couldn't be so power consuming as that dimmed background screen showing all the time.
