Re: Nokia 6120 classic When new Firmware?

I am also waiting for new firmware for 6120 because i have a big problem with bluetooth.

with v 3.70 firmware i have a strange problem - when i transmitting a lot of data with speed fastest than 80 kbits - i am always disconnected from a phone - i have an established dial up connection but there is no possibility to receive of any packet.

when i listening an internet radio 32 kbit bitrate - this problem is not exist.

i tried may phones with my 2 bluetooth keys with nokia 6680 and e 60 and there is no problems with any transmision speed.

what is the problem ? and it can depend of firmware phone ?

Re: Nokia 6120 classic When new Firmware?

The Bluetooth is definitely a problem. It doesn't seem to be related to speed so much fr me, but when there is a lot of activity it dies and will not work again without cycling the power.

This really needs to be fixed.

Re: Nokia 6120 classic When new Firmware?

Hello,
I too am having problems with hsdpa and bluetooth.
Using a N800 to pair up with this phone I am getting random disconnects( although the bluetooth connection symbol in the 6120 still shows that i am connected to the N800 ?).I then need to restart my 6120 classic, then everything works again for a undeterminable time before the connection is lost again !

With my Nokia 6630 Umts phone the connection is rock solid!

The Umts or hsdpa signal reception on the 6120 classic is not a strong point of this phone in my opinion. In other words-average at best.

Hoping that a new firmware can solve these problems.

Same problem with nokia 770 and 6120. 6120 disconnects randomly. I think I have to throw my phone against a wall, it could solve the problems..

Re: Nokia 6120 classic When new Firmware?

hello
i have similar problem with 6120 connecting to the internet via bluetooth in my computer, after several minutes of being online, suddenly connection is frozen, although the icon in the system tray indicating diul up is still present.
The only way to return connection is to turn off and on phone and connect again.
When i do the connection via usb cable all is working perfectly.
So, what now? firmware will be remedy?
I hope so.

We can only wait for Nokia to release a newer version of the firmware to fix this.

Re: Nokia 6120 classic When new Firmware?

Is there a way of submitting bug reports to Nokia? This problem interacts with another bug on Macs which means that you have to reboot your computer every time it happens. It's very annoying when you use your phone all day to connect to the internet.

Also, there doesn't seem to be any way to create a USB based network connection on Macs. Does anyone know how?

Re: Nokia 6120 classic When new Firmware?

You can email Nokia about it but i haven't discovered any bugs.

But i did get one tiny restart!

But it has never happened since.

Re: Nokia 6120 classic When new Firmware?

Hello again
as to the problem with bluetooth in 6120, dont blame the firmware in the phone, this is the problem with... windows, at least in my case. Today i fired up one of the many linux distros, Mandriva 2007.1 , and to my surprise all is working as smoothly as under windows , but under linux i connect the phone through bluetooth.
And as a side note i must say that configuring it was very easy, all by window wizards.
But then, what is wrong with windows? i have no idea.

Re: Nokia 6120 classic When new Firmware?

It's definitely a bug and it's not a Windows bug. The problem doesn't occur with my old 6230i and restarting the Mac doesn't clear the problem, I have to restart the 6120c

Re: Nokia 6120 classic When new Firmware?

This is not a Windows bug. Like I stated before, the bluetooth connection between my N800 and my old Nokia 6630(umts)) works fine. But with the 6120 classic(hsdpa)I always have random disconnects, wich means i need to restart my 6120 aqain. Then everything works for a while again. Nokia customer support will not answer my e-mail questions either. Damn

C´mon Nokia !!

Re: Nokia 6120 classic When new Firmware?

It's definately a phone bug, herbert doesn't know what he is talking about. I get it with EDGE, so it's not HSPA specific.

This is really a serious bug and Nokia needs to get on the case. If they won't respond to emails maybe we should just visit as many blogs and forums as we can and tell people not to buy this phone due to its bugginess. I'd hate to have other people hae the same poor experience I've had.

Re: Nokia 6120 classic When new Firmware?

It may be that the driver in Linux is more robust or it just doesn't trigger the bug in the 6120. It could also be becuase the bug seems to be triggered by interference or a poor signal and you don't have those problems.

hubert01:

Afaik, there are no official drivers for linux. Which drivers do you use? (perhaps you use some general drivers). Gonna buy this phone and want to be sure it will work (at least via usb) on my Debian etch system.

Thanks
