Hi guys,
My Nokia 5800 was delivered a few days ago. I bought it from amazon.fr. Really amazing phone. However, I have a question about its firmware: Why I can`t upgrade to the latest version - v52. The custom version is 51 and the software updater doesn`t detect any available FW updates. My product code is 0578313 and the handset is unbranded. So what is the problem? Am I doing something wrong or the 52 firmware version just isn`t available for my phone(yet?)?
Regards.

You are not doing anything wrong.. If you read the last info (as taken from official Nokia site...)...

The following new features and updating options are available for your Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.
* Please note that the latest software version may not be available for your device, and the benefits listed may not be available to you, or be available in selected countries.

@UncleKolyo
Welcome to the forum!
Your 5800XM product code 0578313 is German Variant Red and unfortunately v51.0.6 is the latest firmware available unfortunately.

Yes, it is unfortunate, v 51 has many bugs but there is still no sign of a new version or an upgrade.
I need some help, few days back my 5800 got hung so i had to restart it. After restarting I saw all the contents of my messages were empty... like all inbox, sent, drafts everything was gone. I had around 800 messages in all. So, I checked some forums and took the Micro SD card which I was using...connected it to my laptop and recovered the sms files via a data recovery software. Now I want to transfer these messages back to my 5800 so that I can see them they way they were on my mobile at the appropriate places.
Can anyone tell me where should I copy those message files now ? Which folder / location in the memory card so that when I insert the card back in my 5800 I can see those messages again.
Please suggest !!

@Mariners
Unfortunately don't know how best to advise you here as normally would be found in named folder such as 00001000
Haven't got enough data upon device to see if any logic behind naming.

Thank you all for your replies. I don`t understand how it is decided for which devices an update should be available and why mine can`t be updated... Anyway, it isn`t much of a problem, I was just curious. I don`t have any complaints about the 5800 (so far). Thanks again and all the best!
