Hello , i've upgraded my Nokia 5800 XM from firmware v51 to new v52 a couple of days ago. Its really fast , optimized and Radio RDS is also fixed but the problem im surfing is :

When i start making a video or just open camera [ Some Times ] the phone crashes showing purple lines then restarts and returns to home screen .. [ Some Times ] when i start playing any game or use painting softwares like Magic Brush, it do same thing ... Just crashes - Showing purple glitchy line and restarts .. I tried uninstalling Magic Brush and many java / sis games and re-installed but same thing happens. 1st i thought its due to low bettery + camera but it happens even with fully charged battery.  

I hope Nokia will fix this if any one have this problem too ?

I've tried Hard Reset using *#7370# but no solution

If nokia is going to release next fixed firmware for this , then there's another bug in v52 still needs to be fixed, that is the Menu white box bug . its behind the menu's symbian icon. its not a problem but looks ugly and needs to be fixed as its still a bug

Since you have NOT tried re-installing the Firmware..I would advise to do that and see if that resolves the issue..

I 've already tried re-installing firmware 2 times with Nokia Sofware Updater and Nokia Ovi suite . but same thing happens .. only some times not always.

May be its some kinda memory dis-management like thing . before v52, i've been using v51 without this problem.

i've also searched Google and it says 5800 will get v60 too. Hope this update will fix it..

Ok.. so you have tried Re-installing firmware and SOFT RESET not the HARD RESET.. As I have read onthis forum.. Hard Reset does a more Deeper reset..so you may try that if you want..as I am also with RM-356 and updated to v 52.0.007 since 15.11.2010 without any problem, it may not be directly related to the firmware....

For Hard Reset you may refer..

..just reminding that it will wipe all your data..

BTW..regarding the v60 ..though Nokia very rarely declares any release dates..there was a mention on this forum by a Nokia employee (though not an official one..) that an update will be available sometimes during November, 2010..and infact the v52.0.007 came after that.. so a bit doubtful if v60 is a reality..

Hard reset could help... but 5800 has hardware design faults that make the stripes reboot symptom to happen... It usually happens with low temperatures or low battery, camera usually drains lots of battery.

It could be that sync is lost in communication of screen with controller provoking some catrastophic failure, making it reboot... I really don't know, just thinking 'loud'.

Check if battery contacts are clean, some phones reboot randomly because some dirt and oxidation exists in battery contacts, when cleaning do it carefully and don't use something metalic as it can short the battery... check if battery contacts are not bent as well. A low conductivity on the battery prevents it to deliver full power and drains it faster.

If everything fails, send it to a Nokia Care Center...
