Hi there, my Nokia 5800 is now sending me a text message saying that new Ovi software (maps,music,contacts,nokia messaging) is ready to update!!! I have worked out how to turn the phone sw updater off but how do i remove the updates, none of them i need or want. Thanks for any help or info

Go to Menu > Applications > My Nokia > Unsubscribe - which sends text to stop these messages.

Thanks for the replay. I have canceled all sw updates and messege updates, but i want to remove (maps,music,contacts,nokia messaging updates) which have already downloaded to the (applications sw update file)

If the update is already installed then its not possible to downgrade...

if you can spare your time reinstalling your applications, backup and restore your data, etc,
You may go for soft reset.

Soft reset will erase every thing on c:\drive(phone memory) but basic application which can not be remove will still be there. Patches, updates and plugins for a particular application(not firmware) will be remove there by gaining some space on c:\ and improve performance (e,g latest version of ovi maps and its associated files will be erased and only nokia maps will remain, similarly ovistore, etc).

ovi map i not available for my hometown so i removed its updates,
when i visit ovistore, i'll have to update ovi application to enter there but after signingout from there, again remove those updats from app manager. i don't keep those apps like youtube, hi5, facebook etc instead i use bookmarks only.

so its upto you, if you can undergo pain of reintalling, backup and restore, etc
