Ah, thanks grschinon for the information about 3.3 actually being 3.03.  I understand my v31 is sufficient, but I'm still hoping to get the v40 update to my phone due to the list of improvements it has.  Nokia doesn't have support site for the 5800 NE, just the XM.  I emailed nokia and they said they desire to create a support page for the NE, but didn't know when it would be live.  Does anyone know when the NE will get a XM like v41 update?

To be honest, the whole method of differentiating between different editions and operator variants of a particular model is a bit of a mess. There are literally hundreds of such variants for each model with different organisations allowing the updates or not as the case may be.

Nokia alone gets to launch firmware updates for regional generic handsets (Euro, APAC etc.). When it comes to country-specific variants, local regulatory bodies and, in some cases, the organisations responsible for maintenance get to have their say. This is the bureaucracy that is holding up new firmware for UK-specific SIM-free handsets, for example.

Some variants just get forgotten, plain and simple. There's a blue, SIM-free 5800 XM for the UK market that's still stuck on V21, for example.

Ah, my phone shows a model number code: 0591814, Its a USA version, unlocked, unbranded, 5800 Navigation Edition.  Just got it off of newegg.com.  I guess I'll just have to wait and see, so far it been 1 Month since the XM got it..........

Hi Guys,

I'm in Ireland under Vodafone post-paid account and still couldn't upgrade my n5800 to firmware v40. It says it's still not available "in my country"

My n5800 type is RM-356 so should be availab.e

Is there any update on this? I'm trying to upgrade using the nokia update software but it says the v30 is the latest. Any help?

Hi Evryone,

I bought a phone with product code :

0588739: 5800 RM-356 Middle-East_North Africa AE  Ramadan Arabic Blk Silver v1

The firmware available in this is very old and maps 3.0 is not available due to this.

No udpate is available when tried with nokia updater .

Is thr a way to get ovi maps 3.0 installed in this phone.

Special editions like Ramadan Edition can be updated through Nokia Care points only
