Hi all, 

Is the updated available for RM-356?

Nokia  Software update is telling me that there are no updates and my phone is currently at v 31.0.101.

RM-356 is a collective name for several hundred different products sold in different countries by different retailers/operators. They all receive the updates at different times.

Unbranded, generic handsets get the update first of all. Then specific country variants get it. Last of all, operator branded handsets.

Thank you for your reply. My phone is not branded.

Hopefully it won't take long to get the firmware update!!

Sometimes my phone does not receive messages unless I switch it off and on again!!! It is very tedious!!!

when ever i am trying to update it it is saying it is up to date.

1. 5800 RM-356 Middle-East_North Africa AE  Ramadan Arabic EU Blue v1

Special Editions like Ramadan Edition stuck at the first firmware you bouught your phone with to guarantee that you have the special apps in it

so the only official solution is to go to Nokia care and ask them for update but you'll lose Ramadan apps came with it

I'm using a nokia 5800 XM without branding (bought it at amazon without contact). In the article linked above it is written that the V40 should be available for all brandingfree phones, but when I want to do the update NSU tells me that there is no newer version available.

My Product Code: 0578314

Current Firmware: 31.0.101

The phone status also shows a special version: 31.0.101.477.01

Does it mean that the phone is branded even if I bought it without contract?

What could be the problem in my case for not getting the update to V40?

Does anyone know when the V40 will be released for my phone?

Not all the operator free handsets can be updated, Release versions depends upon regions & product codes which you can find at back of mobile, beneath battery

just updated my 5800 to v31 last december. i keep on trying to update but it seems v40 is not yet available for me.. i envy those guys having the v40 on youtube...

anybody has an idea when will be the estimated release of v40.0.005 us?

If it does then it's inaccurate.

So far, V40 has been released for generic regional variants, not yet for country-specific models.

Does anyone know if the v40 update will come to the Noka 5800 Navigation Edition?  I just bought this unbranded and my phone says no updates.  It is using v31 and the maps program is Nokia Maps 3.03 rather than Ovi Maps 3.3.  Should I remove my Nokia maps 3.03 and install Ovi Maps?

There is no OVI Maps 3.3. The so-called 3.3 with free navigation that people have been going on about is in fact V3.03 as shown here: http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/maps-support

Furthermore, the V31 your phone is running is sufficient for OVI Maps 3.03 to work.
