I received a mail from nokia which confirm that the new firmware has kinetic scrolling and is in the process of approval to be released soon.

People, I am not much optimistic about new features being added to 5800, its because nokia has released several FW updates (to patch-up the problems) that users have started expecting more to come with new upgrade.

I only expect nokia to release one well worked upgrade that resolves all the bugs and functional issues, even if it takes 3-4 months (its already been more than a year this phone is in market). And here i am not being demanding but as a costomer only seek justification for the money i spent to buy a phone.

I dont want every function / feature in this phone but yes every function that is incorporated should work well.

At last, a voice of reason! I'd give you 100 kudos if I could.

Only a very vocal minory actually cares about kinetic scrolling and other new features. Most of us just want the features we already have to work correctly. For my part, I couldn't care less about a fancy home screen because the one I have already works fine for me. Kinetic scrolling? I don't really feel particularly strongly one way or the other. I do want the alarm to go off at the right time. though. Is that too much to ask?

Then why should we believe what you say, theres too many people talking sh*t about this firmware update on the net!

Many people have been told various things @ various forums which have all failed to see the light, no one has shown any proof of what they know hence me asking you for some, which you won't come cross with.

Can you see my point, anyone can say what your saying!

a lot of phones got update this days , N82,N95,N95 8GB and those are in markets more than 2 years !!

i wish that 5800 got it's update soon with real improvements , this will satisfy  5800 users ..

just a question which is better update phone by NSU or OTA ??

If you have a choice then FOTA is faster and more reliable.

Most of the time, however, you don't have a choice because the update is released via only one channel, not both.

i love my nokia 5800 n i love nokia.. i've used all kinds of nokia fones.. 1100, 2100, N70.

N70 was such a perfect device for me that i cudnt imagine upgrading to a better cellfone.. cuz it fulfilled my requirements..  the only reason i switched to 5800xm was cuz my LCD screen was broken..

therefore, i have complete faith in nokia there'll upgrade the software that'll be similar to 5530 n 5230..

as i said the firmware update is not subjected to the fone but for s60v5 in general..

n those who say 5800xm is not an old device.. wake up.. its not old yet.. infact navigator edition's launched already.. means it'll be high end device for another yr atleast..

Guys, we (5800 owners) bought this phone (paid 200% compared now) and supported Nokia to develop better devices with all new OS. Nokia must develop 5800 to one of the best Nokia phone, so that Nokia will get another approx min 8M customers when they release newer phones in future.(But Nokia Missed the chance, coz even the updates are not going to compromise the customers* like me). (*i waited almost 3 months for the 5800 release)

proof: popularity of N900 with all new OS. 

Dont peg any more here for updates....

Including me, many of them are fed up with Nokia's Policy ( I am still happy with the phone but i have an internal feeling that i m cheated by Nokia whenever i see a cheaper phone with better features). and almost 50% price reduction within 1 year.

Dont peg more from Nokia.... Admit your mistake and dont repeat again...

Look the other part of world.. Android 2.1 is growing very fast....

The lesson learned in our life  "Never buy Nokia phones which is less than 1 year old"  (Advantages: Almost 50% less price, sometimes cheaper phones with better features and may be 5 - 6 times fimeware upgraded (bugs fixed or attempted).

Friends, come on... dont ask anything from Nokia when they are interested to lisen to us... It is time to change our device...never think about Nokia again and dont become fool again like now... Or buy only atleast 1 year old Nokia phones.

I will change my 5800xm by tomorrow and never will not buy Nokia again..

KS is not luxury for this phone. If your strategy is never develop your smart phones. We can find another brand smart phone which have already have KS and HS..

I'm 100% with you mate. Nokia is getting behind the other phone-brands.. i'll defenitely change my device next year.. the 5800 is dead for me. Too low quality - no well-engineered OS (concerning UI etc) - poor service & support.

I'm with you both too, and after the N97 and the N97 Mini, which i thought were terrible, i'm not holding much hope for Nokia in the future.

I'll be off to another brand too, unless something really blows me away and i've tested it before hand, if i can't do that that then bye bye Nokia.

Yes, but... there is an order 5800 > 5530. So, 5800 is supposed to have better features than his younger brother.
