While playing SWF games or some other applications (like touch piano, touch guitar etc) the control keys take up half the screen space in version 20. I would suggest these keys should be optional and should appear as and when recalled (may be using music express shortcut, below front camera) when any application is open. Other wise the express music shortcut should work as it is.

In fact this music express shortcut may be used for a variety of uses depending on the application opened on screen. Innovators to think.....

If they just fixed all the bugs and shortcomings in the current firmware it would already be great !

- Contacts bar doesn't ask which number (phone book does)

- Expire certificate issue

- Contacts Birthdays and Anniverseries in Calendar

- No gateway reply issue on WLAN

- Various issues with Bluetooth and certain carkits (ie. BMW one)

- Mfe supporting only a single profile (no bussiness/home)

It's no point introducing new things before the these ones work fine.

I would like to have loud volume on earphones, I think they are software bounded to LOW volume. It is supposed to be a music phone, but I barely hear the music while I'm in the Tube.

16.  Elaboration: The white light glows when I have a notification right? what if we could customize that or nokia do it for us! like if we have email then the green and red light glow simultaneously. if we have a text message then the white light glows. if we have missed calls then the red light glows. get my drift?

I like this lights idea... it gives a quick look as to what you've actually missed. And I also like malkmus' threaded SMS idea. I think I came across an app for that a while ago... (if I find it again, I'll post it)

But I think a HUGE improvement would be in the Contact Bar. There's a lot of wasted space under the pictures, and I think a Theme that included the combination of both the Contacts Bar and Shortcuts Bar would be ideal. You could have your four (or more) contact, and four (or more) app shortcuts, along with the search and that day's calendar entry.

I think this would be very beneficial... that'd be the perfect home screen for me.

There's indeed plenty of room wasted... why not display todays meetings/appointments/birthdays...and why not make the number of contacts dynamic, I really don't see a reason to limit it to only four.

the homescreen should be completely customizable and the 3d menu system seen on the omnia hd should be implemented or someway to be able to change screen by using touch......ofcourse the menu list should only be accessible via the white button (otherwise the white button loses its importance)

hi, first of all, nokia 5800 XM is the greatest phone i've ever owned, and S60V5 is a realy great functional OS,

i have v20 on my phone.

but i have some points that need to be fixed or added in its software, and i really appriciate considering the requests that users asked for.

  1)  Nokia made it possible to copy paste texts from some places in the phone, but they left many places without this ability, especially on web pages, which is the most important part, because sometimes i really need to copy a link and paste it in "Go to"

  2) the abillity to save web pages like it was in the S60V2 phones like 6680.

  3) i consider this the biggest missing part! i wanna open new windows in web! how do they always forget this?!

  4) also about rotating screen, why do all the screens rotate exept the main screen? its the most important one to rotate in my opinion, to make space for more shortcuts, and also the abillity to hold screen rotated or hold it not rotated.

  5) when i enter gallery to images and photos, it automaticaly scrolls down to the bottom, is it a bug or is it meant?

  6) there are some bugs when changing themes.

  7) this point is not about Nokia mainly, there are not many apps that are not compatible with the OS.

 i hope they consider these in their next software version, and i say again: its the best phone i've ever had, thank Nokia for listening to us.

1- Home screen should have more options. 4 application icons are not enough may be there should be a lower bar as well with tabs like in handy shell software for 5800.

2- Wifi has connectivity problems no gateway reply. someone above mentioned it as well.

3- Scrolling sucks big time. It really needs improvement. 

4- Browser should give option to save html pages on phone and be available offline. 

5- There is no mechanism for selecting multiple messages or other such things. I am using the pencil software at the moment.

6- Threaded sms. I think there is some software being developed at betalabs.

7- Camera quality should be improved.

8- Dailpad should give predictive phonebook option like it is in windows mobile. 

 Build quality. Well that can not be improved so atleast they should work on improving firmware.

Sadly this phone is very buggy. Both the hardware and software need a lot of help inorder for it to become useful. On the software side, nokia needs to update it as quickly as possible. And should check the user feedback regularly.

The browsing is slow, the camera is the weakest and blurriest I have ever seen in a Nokia phone. The sound is not of high quality from the speakers.

It will take many software updates not just one to atleast make the phone usable as right now its near worthless to be taken as a serious phone.

Nokia please listen to us and fix the problems for all not some specific countries only.

My single, major wish would be OP's number 9: Elastic scrolling, also called Kinetic scrolling or flick scrolling.

This is THE feature I'd wish the boys & girls over at Nokia would implement on the 5800. After downloading Gravity (a twitter client for S60) and playing a whole night with the kinetic scrolling on 5800, I am in love. The "wow factor" is superb (increases sales!) and it is SO much more useful than that laggy, choppy and anemic "drag and hold" scrolling 5800 currently has. Scrollbar is better than that, but still meh.

Kinetic scrolling, kinetic scrolling, kinetic scrolling! Do it, do it, do it!

Twitter is packed with people enjoying the kinetic scrolling on Gravity.

Small wishes?

A number pad when entering numerical data (f.ex. time). Now it brings up the full qwerty (because I use qwerty when writing). Should be something like the PIN dialog when starting the phone.

I would like the option to be able to assign different message alert tones to each contacts rather than have one tone for all. It can be done for ringtones so it should be made possible for message alert tones too.
