Which version of firmware are you on?

If you are experiencing a lot of hangs, try switching off transitions in Themes, it makes the phone way fast, also you can buy a task manager such as Handy Taskman(http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/software/item/Handy_Taskman_for_S60.php), it helps monitor which applications are running in the background and helps the phone to run faster. My friend has a 5800 and i own a N97 and both the phones work a lot faster with display transitions off.

If all else fails, try resetting the phone by using the code *#7370#, before resetting remeber to backup all your important data such as contacts, messages etc that are in the phone memory, data items in the memory card are not erased upon reset by the above code.

About your query for software updates, nokia continues to support its phones for about 2 years after release, lets hope the upcoming firmware update meets all expectations.

Try it, it works.

Please KUDOS if you liked my reply.

First install the latest available firmware on your phone by updating it through FOTA or Nokia Ovi Suite 2, else you can perform a soft reset by pressing *#7370#, it will ask you for a security code, default code is 12345, if you have changed it then enter your code...before perfroming a soft reset backup all important items in the phone memory.

About software stability, most nokia phones have either suffered or still suffer due to faulty software, my N97 restarts almost 2 times a day for no reason watsoever, i periodically keep freeing the RAM through handy taskma, also i ensure that i dont run many programs in the background. IN most cases updating the firmware or soft resetting the phone works and you can gain performance.

About the lines and freeze problems on the screen, try the above methods and if you still have the same problems then contact NOKIA CARE.

I would recommend the iPhone or Nexus One to anyone aswell - they really are good phones. And you know why? They have only a few phones. Nokia have piles of phones and they can't focus on one or two particular phones to fine tune them properly. Look at HTC, their phones are excellent and how many phones do they have? Around 25... quite a lot but compared to Nokia...

iPhone... here I come  :smileywink:
