Every time I try the software update on the phone I get the message invalid user name, I have tried this many times with the same result. Any ideas?

I did this using the phone option *#0000# options/check for updates and this is where it fails, my software version is V 20.0.005

Are you able to browse? Did you see it is connectedbelow signal bar)

Yes browsing is fine using opera and access to ovi works OK as does everything else, it is just the check for updates option when selected states checking for updates, the fails saying invalid user name or password

Phone management
Factory setting
Your code is 12345 by defualt if not changed
(Setings and shortcut will change but your datas are save)

And try again

OK tried that, still the same, also noticed I get the same message when trying to start server configuration on the server profiles screen.

What user name ? Have you registered yourself at Nokia site ?  If it asks for any user name then are you entering it correctly as registered ??

Yes I have registered at Nokia and am using the same user name and password as the my Nokia website login.

Try doing it thru' PC and OVI suite..
