I recently had to get a replacement phone for my 5230 because my old one was defective. I tried performing a software update, but it keeps telling me that it's the current software when it's V 12. On my old 5230, I was successfully able to perform the update to V 20. I don't undertstand why it won't allow me. I don't have a web plan on my phone, so I use the Nokia Software Updater on my computer. Please help.

@Unusual1221
Welcome to the forum!
Unfortunately this is related to whatever the product code is of your specific 5230, which is the seven digit or alphanumeric code on label under battery; this dictates what firmware is delivered by Nokia Software Updater.
If you post this number we could tell you what firmware version would be available for your device.

There is no 7 digit code, and I'm not sure which one is the product code, I'll enter all the codes I see:
Model: 5230-1c
Type: RM-593
FCC ID: LJPRM-593
IC: 661E-RM593
Code: 0592823DR05R2N
