Hey there
Since the last firmware update (version V 21.0.004 ) my device keeps on connecting to the internet and drains the battery really quick (4 hours)
The first suspect was the nokia email client. changed the settings to offline and even closed the application but still ...
Second i changed my setting from "auto" to "ask before ..." but even when i cancel it it keeps on connecting.
Third changed the settings from the SW update application but still.
Is this a now bug and how can i tell what is opening the connection

Hi guys
I updated my software and got the EXACT same issue.
Infact, the alarm to get me to work didn't go off because the phone was dead - I was totally shocked.
I have had to turn the phone off multiple times today as the connection manager fails to kill the connection - it's going mental.
Checked the maps settings now: was set to Sync at start and end. Set it to manual......
The constant 3.5g connection is also killing the GPS from getting access to the net too.....
Someone at Nokia needs to investigate this (happy to assist) as this phone behaviour is completely different before I updated last night.....

Vell just bought the Nokia 5230 and had come to the conclusion that it's a **bleep** "buggy" phone at the moment.
Got the last update too and the battery are drained in about 6 hours when using the alarm.
Nokia, do something about those bugs!!

I bought my 5230 on the Tesco Mobile network and, despite setting Maps>Internet to "Offline", Sync to "Manual", all "Connections" to "ask first" and switching off Assisted GPS, the moment I try to locate my position the phone connects and starts downloading data.
I now suspect that Tesco have "adjusted" the spec so that it is not possible to navigate by GPRS alone at no cost. I have phoned, e-mailed and written to Tesco Mobile without any response to this. Does anyone have any views on this and is there yet another setting that I have missed, which will turn off the connection, although nobody has yet replied to this strand with any such advice, as yet.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.

I am now answering my own query. The reason that OVI MAPS wouldn`t work on my 5230 was nothing to do with the service provider having tweaked the spec but all to do with a duff, or very soon corrupted SD Micro Card.
The 5230 will give pretty good sat-nav with only "Integrated GPS" set within Applications>Location>Positioning>Positioning Methods and in this state incurs no data usage.
