maybe you connect via an USB-Hub...
please try again with the Nokia connected to a port that is connected directly to your motherboard...

had the same problem like you (although i did not wait 45mins like you did) and the above did solve it

the updater (or the Nokia drivers, who knows) seem to have problems (like loosing connection to the phone during update) if your Nokia is connected via an USB-Hub (port multiplier) to your PC

I had mine connected via an USB-Hub and exactly your problems

once I connected the phone DIRECTLY (no hub in betwween) to one of the USB-ports of my Laptop the update went smootly

just a thought in case your phone is not directly directed to your PC during update...

Default media player (real) in e90 support mp4 movies, and it also plays in full screen (of course it depends on the aspect ratio of your movie.)

The simple message to all E90 owners is [u]unless you are a frequent GPS/Maps user[/u] it is not worth the possible/likey problems of doing this upgrade. Especially for non IT proficient folk.

The back up and restore is not 100%, several of your third party applications need to be re-installed (need the licence codes again).

Steve Litchfield at AAS has already discovered a crash instigating bug, and posts that he expects another FW within a month or two.

Good call Peterf. I think because the battery is one of those "smart" batteries that needs to talk to the phone, and USB also talks to the phone via the CPU, the are both jockeying for attention and this could be causing the hang. When I upgraded mine, I charged the battery first but still left it on the charger. This way the battery was fully charged but still drawing stable power from the charger.

Very strange indeed. I am sure that this is something that Nokia could not necessarily test for as this appears to be an anomaly.

They are for the N95 but they should work just as well for the E90. In fact I know they do.

can some1 pls tell me if there is any other options to fix my phone (e90)?

again this is what happened:

1) installed fresh copy of NSU from nokia
2) followed the steps in NSU
3) phone was detected (e90) & showed my current version and upgrade version - available for this phone
4) clicked on next
5) got to 3rd step (Preparing installation...)
6) and nothing happened for next 45min-1hour
7) browsed all sites, and got to know it'd take only 5-20 minutes maximum so from end-task i closed NSU application buz i ended up waitin like 2 hours..so finally gave up, and im sure it'd not take 2 hours to upgrade the new F/W, so had no choice
8) phone did not die, and it still had the old firmware
9) y'day i removed the battery to change my SIM
10) turned it on, and only Nokia logo comes up and thats it.....
11) however, my pn still goes to the screensaver mode after few sec if i dont press any buttons....where you would get time & date screen...and if i press any button again back to Nokia logo....

anythin i can do here? all ur help will be highly appreciated it..else i know my last option is to send it back to nokia center to get it repaired...

Hi!

Also from Belgium, i recently got my E90 (the rare AZERTY keyboard), the new one after that the production resumed! with 7.38.0.2 originaly loaded (18-09-2007 RA-6) Both HW and SW are satisfying.
When i checked NSU, 7.40.0.2 is available...But as my 7.38 is extremly stable, i'm not going to load the 7.40.x.x

My current firmware version on my E90 is 7.40.1.2. But they still have not fixed the Call log bug that display all calls as "Mobile" calls. Does anyone know if this will EVER get fixed, and whether work is being done on another update anytime soon? Or are we stuck with this until a new Communicator comes out?

I routinely get a GPS fix within 45 seconds of starting the program. Sometimes within 10. I fail to see how that falls anywhere near unuseable...
